Found in my LGS today. I can't find any information on this pistol.  Slide does not have the front serrations that most SIG Combat 226s have.  Is this a conversion by the original owner?

I've never heard of the Combat being available in 40.

I have a 226 Combat (9mm) and they not-too-long-ago released a 229 Combat (9mm). I haven't heard of a 40 coming out and it's not on their website so........?

Should be easy to just drop in a 9mm barrel and recoil spring correct?

No, you need a 9mm slide assembly or aftermarket conversion barrel to go from .40 to 9mm.

So for an extra $400 I can convert a $600 pistol back into a $1000 NIB version and get stuck with three 40 cal magazines?  Glad I asked here before heading down that dark alley!

That is correct they did not release one in .40 S&W. The combat was only released in 9mm & 45 ACP both of which are military calibers.

Seems like Sig puts out a lot of franken guns, might easily be one of those, whatever parts they had laying around at the time.

Yes, it could have been a CPO. Call SIG CS and have them check the serial number and they can tell you.
