FPNI and 2PNI.

I'm in!

I just wish they would get rid of those SIGLITES.

I love my p220 but have never shot a p225. Gotta say I might have to pick one up(along with the 10mm p220).

Sorry if I do not get too excited. From my memory...the 225 is roughly the same size as the P228 was or say a P229. The grip I think was just a tad shorter but was thinner. The 225 was larger then say the P239. So they are releasing a gun that is single stack with the same capacity of a smaller gun but is about the same size as the larger models.

What this sounds like to me is SIG is going to release a gun that a lot of SIG fans will buy so they can say they have a 225. I think this is more about marketing then anything else. This sounds familiar, oh wait, M11-A1 comes to mind.

EDIT: I would rather SIG redesign the 239 grips so they are not so square on the front. I would buy this before buying a new 225.

While you have a valid point about the size/capacity of the P225, and another valid point about the clever/shady marketing ala M11-A1, there are people such as those with smaller hands or women who want a classic SIG Sauer but with a grip that has a smaller circumference then say a P228/P229. The P239 feels like a completely different animal altogether, the grip is much too blocky, like a 2x4. It's not for me.

My only real gripe so far about this re-release is the thought of a rounded P228-style trigger guard on the P225. I hope SIG comes to their senses and keeps the squared P220-style trigger guard, without it it's not really a P225. But if we're going down that road we can also argue that without a two piece folded carbon steel slide it's not a P225 either.

Yes, except for the weird hammer specified by German police and a heavier mainspring.

Had one.  Nice enough pistol but it didn't do anything my 228 did better.  A tad bulky for a single stack nine.  Sold it and never looked back.

Given SIG's pricing structure these won't be cheap.  I'd guess $800 plus.

I have. Came close to buying one a few times. But for the price, size, and capacity, I would rather have a 228 or 229. Just my opinion.

I have a P229, P228, P226 and a P225. The P225 is by far my favorite 9mm Sig. I'll buy another if they re-release it.

I used to have a 225, nice gun.  Sold it (foolishly because it was West German)   I agree with everything above.  Sig is now all about marketing and that company was better when every gun was plain black, made by serious guys named Jurgen IN GERMANY.  The M11-A1 is a perfect example.   I've also personally experienced some of the rather dismal QC they had a few years ago.

I have a P225 and two German P6's that I had refinished and added wood grips.  The guns are awesome.  The 225/P6 is a great feeling gun in the hand.  I do wonder what Sig's plan is.  I think they must huddle in a conference room and throw darts to figure out what their offerings will be.

Love my P6.  It is one of the best pointing pistols I own.  My complaint with it has always been the availability and price of spare FACTORY magazines.  Now, it seems that surplus mags are available cheaper than ProMags for the gun…I am a happy man!

There is rumor on another board that the magazines will be different than those of the legacy P225/P6. Not sure if true, and not sure if different means incompatible or not.

I suspect so.  If its made over here it will have the stainless milled slide.  New Hampshire never had the machinery for the old style slide.  Not sure Germany  has that machinery anymore.

I recall reading SIG retired all that equipment a few years back, around the time the glut of JP Sauer and Sohn P225 mags hit the market.

Speaking of, with talk of a different mag, all the evidence does point toward a "P225-like" pistol, but not a true P225.

Agreed. At this point I've lost all enthusiasm with this re-release. With the milled slide and rounded trigger guard SIG is essentially creating a single-stack P229.

There is one on our local backpage for $475.

Every once in a while i consider selling my  basically brand new P6 and the 11 mags I have for it.

I'm not sure what exactly I'd replace it with though that would make it worth the trade. Maybe a MK25 and a bunch of mags.

I don't carry it, rarely shoot it,  and i bought it to get refinished but I didn't because it was unissued and essentially new.

Nice clean looking P225! Odd looking base plates on a couple of those mags. I've got four P6's myself, two early 80's and two late 90's, only the 90's will feed JHP.
The one downside to the P225 mags is the feed lips are prone to spreading. Out of 11 used mags 4 of mine are noticeably spread, which may be why they are using a modified P239 mag instead.

I'm actually excited to see what subtle changes they make to the P225. I've been looking to get a P239 for carry, but if they slim the grip panels slightly and smooth the edges a new P225 would be an excellent CCW piece.

Interesting.  I'm curious about what this will do to pricing for the used P6/P225 market.  I have two P6's (German police trade ins) and one used, but great shape, P225.  I want to keep the P225, but considering selling the P6's.  Whats a typical resale price for decent P6's thses days?

Since West German-made SIGs are so highly regarded, I wouldn't worry about the value of the original P6/P225 dropping.
