At the risk of sounding like Indiana Jones, it is not the years, it's the mileage.

My P226 was also born in 1988.  It is still in good shape, and I trust it.

It didn't get shot a whole lot for the first few years, and then I started making up for lost time.

It has quite a bit of life left in it, though.

Here is the best way to look at it, GLOCK 17's are a Dime a Dozen and can be bought for around 400.00-500.00 used like new. On the other hand a W. German Made P226 is not easy to find for sale and if You do find one for sale it is usually around 600.00 and up. And They sell fast! People Hold on to Them and don't get rid of Them. I have  2 now a W. German Standard Black and a P226 Electroless Nickel, I have had several in the Past and Consider the W. German made Sigs to be the best. By the way the last G17 I bought was a Gen3 like new with 1 Mag for 400.00 out the Door of My Local Pawn Shop.

Make the Trade and don't look back, and if You end up not liking that P226 send Me a Message and I will Buy it from You Depending on the Condition.

Do it. Getting rid of my West German 226 is probably my biggest gun regret.

I have a G-17 in my safe just waiting for a trade like that!  Go forth, acquire SIG, live harmoniously.

Depending on the condition. I bought an 87 228 that had less wear then my 01 pd trade in. Was more then happy to whip out the 475 for it
