Does anyone know if their 2022 will fit a leather P229 holster?
View Quote
Somewhat... I have a 229R Galco FL250B holster that fits my S&W 4006 TSW perfectly (that was the reason why I bought it) but doesn't fit my 2022. I have heard that some 229 holsters fit the 2022 very well.

You might have one of those rare German-made SP2022's, if so lucky you!

Yes sir, it says Frame made in Germany on the left side just in front of the slide stop.  How unusual are these imported guns?  Are they possibly contract overruns?

I think they're imports during the panic. Sig couldn't produce enough Stateside so they brought in their European market guns. Glock did the same thing. They sold the US made guns (which are primarily intended for overseas sales) along with the Austrian Proofed guns intended for European sales.

There are Swiss made 2022s?

Either way, trade the Glock for an SP2022.

All day, every day.

My German Frame 9mm was made in 2012.  It was printed on the case(Mine came in a plastic case rather than the cardboard box most came in).  Id be tearing my pants off to get to my wallet for a 2022 in .40 at that price.

NOTE:  My 2022 is for sale in the EE.

NOTE2:  S&W will send you these baseplates free and fast if you ask nicely.  If they request a serial #, just use google images and rob one.  They didn't with me though.  All they asked was mag capacity.  Google helped me with that too.

I like my 9mm 2022.

One mod that I did to mine is to install the roco systems flat mag bases. I don't know why but I don't like the finger rest mag bases they come with from the factory. The roco systems bases just "feel right" to me, plus they make the 2022 just a smidge easier to carry (probably just a mental "think they are easier" thing) and they remind me of my old P228 I sold a long time ago. I also think it is because I'm used to shooting HK pistols with flat mag bases.

Pretty uncool to lie to S&W to get free goods. I don't know why you would suggest that.

So using someone else's serial number is cool? How about I use your properties' serial numbers for my own means and then when you call in with an issue they tell you no go.

Just got a stainless 9mm CDNN $399 special, really like it - seems like a better trigger out of the box than my well used 229R. The medium grip fits my hands better than the classic (non E2) does too. Bought a couple of the Mecgar extended base mags from CDNN to go with it, they run great also.

I love everything about mine with one exception, I just can't get used to DA/SA. My duty gun is a G22 and every other pistol I own is a striker fired, so going to DA/SA fucks me up. I'm gonna miss it once it sells.

Get yourself an IDPA/IPSC or B27 target and hang it up somewhere convenient. Get your holster, the gun, and a shot timer, or shot timer phone app. Set it to random delay and practice every day for five minutes. e

Dry and dry fire the double action trigger twice, watch the front sight alignment. Beep, draw, snap -> snap, holster, repeat...

After two weeks, draw, dry fire once, then place an empty shell casing, headstamp down, on the front sight. Carefully regain your grip and dry fire without knocking the casing off.

Now spend another two or three minutes doing that after you do your five minute dry firing every day.

In another two weeks you will never ever hate DA again.
