I have been the proud owner of a Sig P229 in 9mm and could not be happier. It has become my go to gun for concealed carry as well as IDPA matches. It is the perfect size, easy to carry every day, it shoots like a dream, reliable as a Swiss watch and very accurate. I thought the DA/SA trigger would be tough to get used to but it is very easy to shoot quickly and multiple shots are no problem with transition from double action to single action.

Now all I have to learn is the secret Sig Sauer handshake!!

It is a good gun but I think P226 is the best. It fits my hand better.

How can you tell?

I had a Ruger P89 and hated the trigger thinking that all double action/single action guns were difficult to shoot well. I sure was wrong as the Sig has a really nice trigger.

You're in luck. SIG Sauers are as good as it gets for DA/SA triggers.

Had one, traded it off, didn't really do much for me.

ETA: Nothing wrong with it, I just didn't like it.

Everyone knows the P220 is the best Sig. Single stack and in .45 ACP.

Not a DA/SA fan, so I sold my 229. Don't miss it at all. I do love my wife's P238. Kinda thinking about getting a 938 for myself.

OP, you've taken your first step on a long road of acquiring many SIGs....each as good as, or better than the last...I'm working on getting #8 as we speak

Yeah, any SIG will put you in Valhalla as compared to a Ruger P89.      (A P90 was my first handgun, and a P226 my second).

I'm not as Hollywood; I only have 6 SIG Sauer products. Hopefully I can snag a Swiss 551 (pistol) and later a stock. Then my SIG collection will be great(er).

I love my 228, but the W. German 226 is my favorite. My 229 is chambered in .357 SIG. (Secret Service pistol ). I don't shoot it much, vastly favoring the 9mm's.

Enjoy your P229!

I only have two SIG pistols. A P226 9mmx19 1988 (JJ) W. German triple serial number gun and P229.
I have numerous other pistol of various calibers.
My P229 in .40 S&W and .357 SIG is one of my favorite pistols to shot however, it is slightly too large for EDC here in FL with the very light dress code most of the year.

You have obviously never handled an X-Five

I have both and the X-Five is in a category all by itself.

P229 SSE in .357 Sig

X-Five Tactical in .40 S&W

I stopped a robbery with a 357 Sig-229.  You cannot believe how loud a 357 Sig is inside a building.
