So I hate SIG grips on doublestack guns. Thought I'd try the E2, but now instead of being too thick it feels too straight and vertical. What do you all think, do I just need to get used to it or go back to old grips?

I have E2s on my two P227s.

They are plenty comfortable enough.

Have the old school grips on my other Sigs, plenty comfortable enough.

Six of one, half dozen of the other.

I have an E2 model and at first I didn't like them, but now I have changed my mind. They are not for everybody. I think if they had the pebble texture it would be more comfortable to shoot.

Hogue G10 grips are the shizzle. I LOVE them on my MK25.

Are the G10 slip ons or screw ons?

On my P227s that came with the E2s, would there be screw holes underneath?

Did yours have the E2s to start with?

What would I have to do to put the G10s on?

I know, questions, questions, sorry.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that the P227 has the screw holes under the grip. A quick search shows that all available 227s come with the E2 grip. I did find a thread on SigTalk that kind of indicated that threaded inserts would at some time become available for aftermarket grip installations.

My P226 MK25 came with the standard grip panels so swapping the grips was a breeze.

I'm sorry I'm not much help. Should Sig or another company make it to where you can install screw-on grips, the Hogues are well worth it.

G10 Hogues are thicker than OEM SIG panel grips, no thanks.

I like both.   Have a 228 and 229 with old style and a 227 with E2 which make that gun feel very nice.
And have had a 229 with the E2 and liked it.

Standard grips are great, classic in fact.

But the E2, at least on my P226. is AWESOME!

Love it, ain't going back!

I'm pretty much in this category.   I had standard grips on my 226 and switched to the E2.  I won't be going back to the stock grip.

Had the E2 conversion done on my 228 years ago and haven't looked back. The ergonomics are great. The only thing I did to improve the overall ergonomics was add the SRT.  Makes for the most natural reach for double action.  I don't have to strain.  The only downside to the grip texture is I have to watch what shirt I wear with it. It tends to snag on certain material.

The end result is the only handgun I've ever held that has become a natural extension of my body.  No correction ever needed.  Always on.

I have a p229 with standard grips and a p226 with E2.
When I shoot back to back, I can tell that they do feel different, but can't really say that one is "better" than the other.  I guess I like them both
