I have heard that the mk 25 is hard to find a holster for. I just want a paddle retention holster like the Blackhawk Serpa. I will be getting on of these two tomorrow and i want to know what is going to be the easiest to find holster for.
Thank you

JM Custom Kydex.

I have the IWB version 3 and yesterday I spent the day crawling around in my attic running new coax cable and for the most part I didn't even notice it on my hip.  My pocket knife was a bigger issue.  I can't recommend the JM IWB version 3 enough.

That......and the rail. The rail is different so no. It can not and will not work with most regular 226 holsters.

They do not list the MK25 as an option.

I have to disagree with that.

I was told the same thing when I bought mine. But, I bought a leather DeSantis (for the life of me I can't remember which model) with no fitment issues. My Galco Jackass Rig fits and works great as well. I've also been thinking about a Safariland ALS. I've tried one and it fit, but I just haven't wanted to spent the money on it yet.

None of the above holsters said anywhere on the packaging that they were made to fit the MK25. All said P226 and/or P226R.

I'd say that if it's a molded kydex holster, it might make a difference, but leather tends to stretch and holsters like the Serpa are pretty loose anyway, so the mil-spec rail really makes minimal difference in my experience.

ETA: For clarification, I'm not disagreeing that the rail is different, but I am disagreeing that most regular P226 and P226R holsters won't work. I'm sure that there are some that won't, but I've yet to find one.

I tried a desantis speed scabbard I think with mine. Wouldn't go in for love or money. The galco I bought though had a bunch of reviews that said it'd fit and after a bit of work does perfectly

Just select the P226r option and add a comment that it is for a mk25.

Don't waste money on a POS Serpa. Most of the safariland P226R holsters work with the MK25

I have a couple Safariland ones, the 6300 series I have doesn't fit the MK25 and the 6280 is just to huge.

I also tried the one without the button and it takes two men and a boy to draw the gun from it. The thing will come off your pants before the gun comes out of it

When I first got my Sig 226 mk25 I bought a retention holster from Blackhawk! I was pleased with it but it was a tight an kinda tense draw, plus I wanted to equip my gun with a light/laser combo not long after, so I bought a Viridian C5L light/laser. (Extremely happy with it! It's a great setup!) Anyways I had to buy a new holster to accommodate my new setup so I looked at the holster that Viridian makes ( http://www.viridiangreenlaser.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=152 ) . It's freaking awesome to say the least in my opinion. Read up on it. It comes with ECR ( Enhanced Combat Readiness ) (Instant On). So you turn your rig on, holster it ( it's turns off ), and when you draw it automatically turns on. No fumbling with buttons an stuff just aim an shoot. Pretty sweet idea I thought. So I would definitely check it out! Hope this helps if you haven't already ordered.  And if you have, then if you choose to get a light/laser I would go with them. Killer buy!

Ps. 226 (sweet rig all in itself!)

What is the difference between the rails on a mk25 vs a 226R?

Does anyone have pics?

Re: rail pics an info for 226 and 226 mk25.

Try Sigs website it's pretty quick an easy to navigate through an flip back an forth through their gun line, if nobody posts pics. Or sigtalk.com maybe there's some more info for ya.

I think this is a 2022, but the image shows the difference. 226R is the curved rail, MK25 is the M1913.

Safariland ALS #6378-477-131 is made for the MK25 and fits perfect. This holster is typically a special order item from Safariland for $54, however Cheaper Than Dirt has them for $19.93 plus shipping. I received mine yesterday and really like the ALS system over the Serpa. It comes with the paddle attachment and belt loop adapter.

The 477 is the correct size for the MK-25 or P226R, It's on the Sarfariland order guide as such. I also have one so I know first hand. You need to look for a 6378-477-132 for a lefty or -412 for plain black.

If the Seals are using the MK 25, what holster do they carry with? I would like a Safari land drop leg platform to carry my MK 25 with, but do not see the option for it. I don't necessarily need to carry with a light attached.

Sig Sauer STX Tactical Black 6004-77-121
Sig Sauer STX Tactical Black 6005-77-121
Both fit the MK25.

Personally I use a 6005-10 with a 6377-477-411 mounted on it. Perfect draw height for me and I like the single leg strap better. (I think it was cheaper too)
