THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Frame is German. Slide is stainless Exeter. No rail. External extractor. Was LE Trade in at local shop. $419 with two mags plus tax, I got to pick out a pair of zipperbacks. Condition is near excellent but has LE markings cleanly engraved on bottom of trigger guard. Cleaned the frame, grip panel are marked Dec 06 and Jan 07. How common are these german frames with US slides? |

Where did you pick yours up from? I went into Tempe at Arizona Firearms & Pawn and picked up an '05 LE trade in for $465. Grip panel says April 2005; night sights coded AF. Came with factory 2 mags already and guy threw in a third Mec-Gar LEO marked for free! Was out the door at $528 after tax and a stupid 3% credit card fee. Oh well. I'm enjoying! Still a pretty good deal to me.

The AF/AG is not the date code on this model of SIGs. Date codes were only used for guns proofed in Germany. Yours was assembled in the US. The serial number should be stamped on the right side of the gun, and I am assuming that it will start with AF or AG as well. You should note, however, that the serial number can be used to approximate the time the gun was manufactured.
Your SIG should have been manufactured in 1995 or 1996. Check out this thread from the SIG Forum, and then scroll down to the section on 229s. http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/430601935/m/7320040262 Nearly all the 229s in the US have the German frame and US-made slide. So, yours is a very common example to find. |
