I already have a G26, but I'm looking for a smaller pocket carry gun. The P290 is the size of the P238 so I'm wondering how reliable they are. What has been your experience with them?

I have one of the first P290s, never had a problem with it - eats anything.
Its my wife's now, I use a Kimber Solo. I like them both equally - but the Solo does not use 115gr or cheap ammo (FTF, FTE, Jams)

I would suggest you wait for the P938 to become available. I tried it for a couple minutes and was impressed. (Size is slightly different from the P238)

I bought one of the last P290 revisions before the P290RS major overhaul. I like mine. Just *barely* small enough to pocket carry (in a holster,) which was the goal in dumping my previous .380s. No FTF/FTEs. I'm confident in it and it has been fun to shoot.

Carry now without the laser... too much bulk and not intuitive operation.

I have shot one, almost bought one.

It shoots well for a CCW, no malfunction issues had occurred while I had some trigger time.

I just cant get used to the grip on it, it is probably one of the most uncomfortable guns ive held.
If you like the grip, go for it, its really a great little piece.

I've had mine for close to a year, and never had a problem with it. Hardest thing is finding good holsters for it.

Im gonna go against the grain here....I think it is a shame it has the Sig name on it. Sig could have done way better with it and the P250 series.

I have handled and shot both and I consider them substandard to all of the rest of the Sig Sauer lineup and earned reputation. YMMV

Glock 26 - 19.75oz / 6.54" OAL / 4.17" H / 1.18" W / 10+1

Sig 290 - 20.50oz / 5.50" OAL / 3.19" H / 1.10" W / 6+1

(+)0.75oz
(-)1.04"
(-)0.98"
(-)0.08"
(-) 4rds (40%)

Both have their advantages, but I would have a hard time swallowing the -40% ammo capacity for the minimal size reduction with more weight

Neither of them are a "pocket gun" IMHO, so either would be carried IWB for me

Thats why I chose the G26
