Poll will be added if I can figure it out.
What else should replace it? It's snoresvill at the range. AR15 of handguns. Boring... Need something spicier in life. |
My Glocks and ARs are my primary defensive tools. I want them to be boringly efficient and reliable. If I wanted to buy a handgun to tinker with and soup up, I'd probably buy a basic stock 1911 and a dremel tool.
It's pretty simple you show your friends your 1911's you show your enemy's your glock's.
The mystery of life is solved. |
Ive used my glock more for a hammer than i ever will for any thing else.
Buy a $2000 1911 and have it jam. Spend more trying to get it to run and then you won't be bored.
I don't understand the concept of a handgun not being boring. They all do the same thing.
Boringly reliable. Makes range days more fun when you can run it instead of work on it. Boringly reliable makes it great for me not so good for bad guys
I might try sbring it and getting a micro roni fpr shits and giggles
They HAVE BEEN boringly dull for a long time.
Mean it. Flame on fanbois |

1. That grey framed VP9 is hot. Damn you.
2. Glocks ARE boring, but that's the point. I wasn't 'anti-Glock' but for the longest time I had no interest in them because I thought they were ugly, and as the OP put it, overplayed. Therefore I tried just about everything else, trying to find that rare gun that seemingly no one else knew about but was secretly awesome. Did the same thing with rifles regarding the AR-15. You know what I learned? They're 'overplayed' for a reason: they do what they're supposed to do. The aftermarket support is also awesome. After trying to fill every role with a 1911 I've found it's amazingly refreshing to use Glocks and know that the mags work, the gun works, they require very little attention, and at the end of the day I can still hit things with them. What a novel concept. |
They were always boring, ha. I mean they are ugly but they work. It was never a gun I picked up and was like oh wow how cool. It was like meh a black block. But they are simple and reliable and get the job done. So for a tool it's perfect. While something like the 1911 or Beretta 92 I was like now this is a sexy gun. I enjoyed them more based on looks and how they felt in my hands. They were more collector pieces for sure. If I lost a Glock I could care less, easy to replace. If I lost a custom 1911 I would sad, they are more one of a kind and harder to replace.

Took my model 34 out to the range the other day . It hits right where aimed no failures . It was a little boring but manage to get through the session .
Yep, bought 3 1911s recently, all SA or Dan Wesson.
The 2 4" barrel models are tack drivers, much more accurate than any of my glocks. Well, with me shooting them. That being said, Glocks are the nightstand gun and 80% CCW. |
My Glocks are boring. I carry one every day, the new has worn off. They work, they do what I want.
The only handguns I own are Glocks. That's not changing any time soon. Long range bolt guns and ARs are where the fun is! |
They are tools.
For my use of them, boringly reliable is the desired trait. |
It's just a tool. A tool you rarely have to clean or fix.
Is the gun holding you back in your shooting abilities? If not, buy ammo instead. |
You know, I think the same thing, the Glock is a pretty boring gun... like I heard said before, its the honda civic of handguns. But you know what... thats really what it should be.
I see the Honda civic as the car you buy when you need a car that gets the job done. You dont need a big pickup truck for hauling, you dont need the SUV seating capacity or Jeep for off roading, or the minivan because you still have self respect... you need a car that can get you from point A to point B. Thats the Glock. It does what it does, and does it well and simple. I would suggest anyone new to handguns get one for their first pistol. If you want something else afterwards, sell it and buy a new gun. Or better yet, keep it as a back up. I just finished my first AR and im looking to save up for a new handgun, wither a RIA 1911 or a Beretta PX4, the Beretta if I can find one I want and the price is right. But im not selling my Glock, I plan on keeping it, even getting a threaded barrel for a suppressor. So to answer the question, yes, the glock is boring, but that isnt a problem. |
Yes they are boring, like anything else you have several of or had for a long time. My truck is boring because I've had it for 12 years. My job is boring after 10 years. Sometimes you need a change to add a little excitement and re-kindle the fire.
Now go buy a new different gun and abuse that bastard child. |
They are boring. Thats how I like it, boring and predictable, but reliable. Its also caveman simple. Its also the only handgun I can completely teardown.
Always makes me laugh when people brag about being a "Certified Glock Armorer". Only a true retard would not manage to qualify as a "Certified Glock Armorer". Heck, I am sure you can train a chimp to be a "Certified Glock Armorer". Boring is how I prefer to live my life. The less drama you invite in the better. Its also why I drive a Honda Ridgeline too. Its 11 yrs old with 180k miles and still drives like new. Its user servicible and cost me little to maintain it. Boring saves you a lot of money and headaches in the long run. |
They are boringly reliable . I like to shoot and not have issues. That said I have picked up a few older Smiths and have always had a couple of 1911's
Not really boring to me but I have been more into 1911s lately.
This is amusing.
You find Glocks "boring" because your shooting is boring. |
My Glocks are boring as shit. That being said they go bang every single time with reasonable combat accuracy. They aren't really "cool" and dont make me look like John Wick when I shoot with friends, but I have zero doubt that in a shitty situation my G19 in my hand will be operational and effective.
yes they are boring! That is why people like them. They are inexpensive and pretty much work every time.
Well.... they've been making the same gun in various calibers for 35 years.
So yah. They boring. |
Overplayed? No. Boring? Yes and always have been, but I carry one every day.
Glocks are 'boring' so you can focus on being a better shooter.
I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret. CZ's are as reliable as Glocks, look great, and shoot nice like 1911's.
This is coming from a guy who own's CZ's, Glocks, and 1911's... |
Yes boring as fuck. My brother in law got a new Glock 19 the other day and at the range I declined to shoot it. I've been shooting Glocks since 1991 and I am bored to death of them.

Every time some new hotness from another maker comes out everybody runs to it because it's sexier. A year later you find out it fires when dropped. Or randomly goes off. Or rusts. Or pieces fall off.
