Ok, I've not had a 45acp in a long time and I've never had a 10mm and I've been wanting these two particular pistols for a long time. I would buy both (probably will) but when I buy a gun that takes a cartridge I don't keep, I start building up a stock pile for it so it's more than just the cost of the gun, it's ammo, holsters, good sights, etc.

I would probably carry it on occasion and it wouldn't be a woods gun or anything other than a heavy hitter. Truth is, I would end up getting the G21/G20 to go with it later.

I don't reload anymore but buying target ammo isn't too much different between the two and I usually go Underwood for my defense ammo and the price is pretty much the same between the two.

What says the hive?

I would get a 30 then buy a 10mm barrel and mags for conversion.

If it's "not" a woods gun and your "not" rolling your own (ammo),
I would say G30.

Your familiar with .45 auto already.

The holsters for a G30 are the same as G29 because the two share a frame. If you
get deep holsters, the G20/21 will fit them as well. Mine sure do.

The ammo cost will be a lil less with .45 auto. Get stocked and get your .45's in place.
Then branch to 10mm. Your holsters will be in place already if ya plan ahead.

Add: if you want aftermarket accessories, go gen 3. If your want grip adjustment go
gen 4. I've found more accessories out there for gen 3 guns.

Yeah, I was leaning towards the 45acp with it probably having better availability, wasn't sure I could do a conversion on the G30.

30s would be my choice. I don't like the big fat slide when carrying.

Personally in a subcompact I'd rather have .45 than 10mm. I just traded my G21 for a G40 and while the 10mm manages recoil very well the slide feels like it's twice the weight of my old G21.

Used to own a Kahr PM45, for such a small gun it was pretty easy to keep rounds on target. I could shoot better groups with the PM45 than with my Sig 938, which was 'snappy' and not forgiving if your grip was less than perfect.

I think Glock needs to fill in their model lineup with a compact .45 & 10mm. Every other caliber has a standard, compact & subcompact version.

Get the G30 if you want more HP in the 10mm checkout the mods to convert it to the 45 Super and back to 45acp. Best of both worlds.

I absolutely love my G4 29... but I reload.

If you don't reload, the .45acp is the hands down choice.

Get .45...more common and if you want bigger power, you can shoot .45 Super.  Win-win!!

Both Buffalo Bore and Underwood have a 255gr hard cast +p load for the 45acp.

Not much to add to what others have already stated but the G30 I had was great. The "S" model offers a thinner barrel which will help with fitment  in holsters made for other Glock pistols and saves you money there for more ammo.. Reloading is the way to go for casual shooting or big animal country and factory ammo. is usually not available on store shelves as frequently as .45 acp.

Thanks guys, looks like it'll be a G30. I haven't owned a 45acp in a long time!
