My buddy picked up a Glock 36 a few months ago and wanted to install a few accessories for it.   It turns out the Glock 36 uses a different trigger, different slide stop, and different magazine release than any of the small frame and large frame Glocks.

This really seems like a pain in the ass as you have very few interchangeable parts between other models and the 36 for keeping spare parts.

What gives with this proprietary gun?

I would guess the fact it is a single stack.

The g36 really needs to be redone with a G42/G43 style frame

Probably not enough demand since the 30S/42/43 came out to warrant it.

Magazines are not interchangeable  Like you cannot use G21 magazines.

Also when I was shopping for night sights I notice that they are not the same size as my 19 or many other Glocks.  So the sights I say are different as well.

It was their first single stack and for the most part it was a piece of shit.  They seem to have finally figured out single stack mags with the G43.

I saw some of the most interesting failures to feed in my G36.  Rounds pointed straight up or down, rounds somehow flipped completely around in the mag.  Every problem with that gun was from the magazines.

The .45 Glocks all use taller rear sights.

I never had issues with mine, ran great and felt great but I recently sold it because it's a safe queen they never sees daylight.
