I'm thinking about picking up one of the used 22's from Classic Arms and since my experience with the 22 and 40 S&W is 0 I thought I'd see how you guys like yours.

I'm looking at one for a couple of reasons. I like Glocks ( Have a 17 and 26 ) from my research it seems tbe a good defense round, ammo is cheap and plentiful around here and if it works out I'd like to use it for a winter CCW.

So......

You already own two Glocks so not sure what you're really asking. 40 is a great round. I carried a G22 with 180 gold dots the last couple years I was a cop and that round does a lot of damage to human body.

The only difference you'll notice is a round or two less of capacity and a little more power.

Adding a caliber to the armory is never really a bad thing.

Especially when 9 and .45 are nowhere to be seen on store shelves.

The 22 is a great pistol and you can ALWAYS find ammo.  I don't see how you can go wrong.

My G22 was my first Glock.  Bought it almost 20 years ago and it's still going strong.  I never thought anything about the recoil until I came to ARFCOM.  I still don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be.  But then again I cut my pistol shooting teeth on .357 mag revolvers.  Like others have mentioned ammo is more readily available.  As cheap as the police trade-ins are now I'm considering getting another.

Hard to beat a G22 for some of the crazy low prices they're popping up for these days.  I've seen them as low as $299.

Conversion barrels are cheap also so if you want a slide and frame to shoot 9mm beats having to buy a brand new pistol for nothing more than a range beater.

My edc is a g23. I love it so much I bought two more in different colors. I find that most guys love to hate the .40, but I don't. It may be the wrong choice if you're shooting competitions and worried about tenths of a second. It's true that if you can shoot a .40 well, you can probably shoot a 9mm better. However, I don't buy the logic for a ccw pistol. If I did, I'd be carrying a 22lr. You don't need to know anything about ballistics to know that a bigger hole is a better hole. Don't let anyone tell you that a .40 is not manageable with a little practice. Buy the G22.

G22 and G23 owner here. G23 for EDC. G22 for range and occasional IPDA or USPSA events with some lighter 165grn reloads. Grip tape, solid recoil guide rod with 13lb spring and and a good set of Warren sights and it's a solid setup for matches now. Easily made 9mm with a $100 conversion barrel and a few 9mm mags.

I've shot 9mm Glocks, but I preferred the .40. As others have said, more ammo availability to boot.

All good responses. I've always been a die hard "Big Bore" fan and carried a full size 1911 for years as my EDC  but I down sized to the G17/ G26 when my carry needs change.

Regardless of some of the so called "Experts" downing it I think the .40 should be a good fit for me as well as a good added addition to my firearm tool box

I have carried this one every day since 1999. A little over 140K rounds through it. Has been in all kinds of enviornments and even knocked 4 teeth out of a dudes face a few years ago

I really like 200 grain bullets in mine for USPSA.  The heavier bullets aren't as snappy at major power factor.  Or are you shooting it in Production?

Summit Gun Broker has Gen 3 guns with 3 mags for $349, hard to beat that deal

I really like my issued G22 and plan on buying a G35 or G22 for myself eventually. I own a G27 and it shoots great. If I wasn't already so invested in 9mm I would only own .40.

Making an arrest in the hood at gun point with a couple of other officers. One of my guys yells "stop, watch out sarge" about the time I feel a hand grab my shoulder. Spun around and smacked the fucker right in the mouth.
Don't have any pics of the guy but this is the damage done to the pistol

I now carry and shoot often a 19
Nothing wrong with the 22, I just prefer the 9.

A KKM .357 Sig barrel lives in my Glock 22.  Over the years I have been given 4 boxes of .40 ammo and haven't fired a round.  I would probably buy a KKM or Lonestar barrel if I decided to shoot the rounds.....

I can buy these all day any day.  Every store in town has them.  Are you speaking of past crisis and poor planners?

my g22 rtf2 with gills. Doesn't get used as much as it should. I have the 9mm conversion barrel in it right now.

I carry a gen 4 G22...Have another spare as a trainer.  Both have been problem free...
I would get a gen 4 if you could. The felt recoil is a bit less "snappy" then the gen 3's.

G23 is my EDC in the colder months and I love the 40, yes it does have less capacity and more recoil but it is very manageable with practice. I shoot it at IDPA matches and shoot well. Dont let the naysayers push you away, but it .

Great gun and great caliber. I removed the finger grooves, added some rubberized grip tape and it is perfect.

Great shooters.

I can't decide between a G22 or a G35 for a bed side gun. My G23 is the truck gun since the Shield 40 became the EDC.
