So I went and bought 20 of the Glock 21 mags that AIM had for sale dirt cheap but I don't own a Glock 21! My duty weapon is a Gen 4 Glock 22 I have also had a Gen 3 down to a Gen 1. So I have been looking around at prices of new and used Glock 21 a long with the SF Glock 21. Before anyone goes to the whole why 45 acp thing get a Glock 19 I can tell you in two words Cast & Reload! Yes I'm starting to cast and reload for the 9mm but I have yet to hear any person who survived a gun fight say "I wish I had a smaller caliber weapon!"
Back on topic the price between a Gen 3 and Gen 4 for new is very little like $40 same for the SF G21. I have not shot a Glock 21 in years 15 years back then it felt like a brick in my hands I mostly shoot 45 acp be it my XD-45 or 1911. I have held a G21 in the past year and it felt fine in my hands don't know if I grew best bet I learned how to hold the pistol. I use the largest grip on my G22 not because my hands or big but because it just fits better. So looking for advice if anyone cares to help out! Yes I know need to buy an after market barrel for lead that's fine with me! In the long run going to buy a slide and barrel for a G20 and extra barrels then I will have 10mm,40S&W, 357SIG, 9mm, with one slide the G21 I will have 45acp, 460 Rowland and others. Thanks |

I like gen4 w/o backstraps. Can shoot it almost as well as my 1911. Feels slimmer than the previous gens..
Got a 30s (and another coming) for backup. |

I have both and carried a G21 for years. Between the two I like the Gen 3 more. If they could make the Gen 4 texture and mag release on the gen 3 I'd be in heaven.

I have a 21 and a 21SF. There are noticeable differences in the grips. I think the 21SF is the best thing they've come out with in a long time. As to your question about barrels, I use a Lone Wolf barrel in mine.

Gen 3 21SF. Quite possibly the best damn model GLOCK has ever made.

Had a Gen 3 21, it was okay but awkward. Sold to a friend and bought a Gen 3 SF when it came out. A lot more comfortable, no reason to upgrade to a Gen 4. If I were buying again I would try to find another SF and save the extra $$ for a Gen 4...

See now I took the slide release of my Gen 3 G22 and placed it on my Gen4 G22. The slide release was short. Break! Break! Anyone know a good place to but a G21 SF? Like to find a place I could buy both a G21 SF and G22 4 Gen for a good price. |

Go with Gen4. The grip "stickiness" and mag release are what makes it for me. Night and day difference!!!

I have a 21 Gen4 love the easier texture, the larger mag release, adjustable back strap but I think the Gen4 double recoil spring is really only relevant for the big .45 I replaced the factory one with a tungsten unit, added an extended slide catch, trijicon night sights and its real accurate and was easier to mod than a 1911 although im not givin up my 1911s im not givin up my 21 either...way easier to strip for sure even my wife a die-hard Sig fan likes how simple the glock is.

I went back and forth on whether to get a Gen 3 or 4 G34. I ended up going with the Gen 4 because I wanted the option of changing the grip size. I just picked it up two days ago, and I definitely made the right choice. After playing with the different backstraps, I settled on the large beavertail. It is the first pistol since the CZ52 where I have enough room to get my support hand on the grip without pushing my strong hand off of the backstrap (thumbs forward grip).
My decision came down to this: There is nothing on the Gen 4 that cannot be changed to replicate a Gen 3, but you cannot change the frame of a Gen 3 to replicate a Gen 4. |

Sounds like I'm going to have to hold a Gen 3 SF and a Gen 4 side by side to see what one I like.

Other than the texture...the Gen3 SF and Gen4 without any blackstrap will be the same size. Go with what feels better in the end.

Holding is not necessarily going to convince you. I bought the Gen 4 after holding it. After shooting it I decided I liked my 21SF Gen 3 better. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

OK maybe I'm missing something I looked at the Glock web site here did a side by side Glock 21 Gen 4 Glock 21 SF on the Glock site pretty says they are the same weapon. So what makes the SF a SF?

View Quote The SF "small frame" was a version of the Gen 3 with a slimmed down grip. With the Gen 4, no backstrap is like the SF, the medium backstrap makes the grip like the normal Gen 3, and the large backstrap makes it bigger than a Gen 3. There's also a medium and large beavertail backstrap. Getting a Gen 3 locks you into a specific frame size; this may or may not be a big deal to someone. The Gen 4 will also have the new recoil spring set-up as well as the bigger (and ambidextrous) mag release. |

Rockwell Arms has G21SF's with the factory threaded barrel and tall suppressor sights for $589 in stock right now.

I like the larger mag release on the Gen 4, but for some reason my SF is more accurate. And I mean by a long margin..... |

I went gen 3 sf. They wanted $50 more for the gen four. I wish I could get an older gen 3sf with the frying pan finish rather than the new nitride shit they use now
