Just got one in the shop.
It's definitely a Gen3 but the slide is clearly marked Gen4 and USA?
Anyone else seen one?

I've seen this a few times on police trade-ins.  How did you acquire the gun?

Serial numbers match on barrel, slide and frame?

Got it through regular distribution channels.

All serial numbers match.

More than likely Glock is tooling up their current lineup to be more cost effective per unit.
- Hard to make out in the pic, but does the slide use the Gen4 RSA or Gen3 RSA? . . . .  if its the Gen4 RSA, supports that theory more

Modifying the Gen3 Frame mold to work with Gen4 slides makes sense, unless its just markings

It has a Gen 3 RSA.  It's a Gen 4 in markings only.

If you like living in obsolescence.

Quality and reliability certainly are becoming obsolete in the gun world.

Glock can't even roll stamp anymore.

I had a gen 4 and sold it.  The texture was too sharp for comfortable concealed carry.  The dustcover is 35% more thin and flexes horribly for light laser use.  The locking block is larger leaving very little polymer in the locking block area of the frame.  Ultimately that has resulted in cracked frames.

Had the gen 4 simply added beavertails, that would have been an improvement.  The rsa is neat but at the loss of light rail rigidity it is a bad idea.  Maybe if glock had kept the old locking block and steel reinforced the light rail with a spring steel sheet stamping and left the old locking block it could have been pulled off? The hk orange peel texture would have been stellar.  Most glock grip work tries to target that sued feel anyway.

Rigidity is not your friend.

Look at the gen 3 40's with weapon light problems.

Stiffer frames equal higher slide velocity equals problems.

Does the box say it's a Gen4?

And did it come with 3 mags?  Did dealer cost go up to $475 or was it acquired for $440?

That would be cool to have.

Do you have anything to substantiate these claims?

Gen 3's are no more reliable and exhibit no better quality than Gen 4's.

I would like to see some documentation on this as well, first time I have ever seen this claim.

Perhaps it'll be as reliable as this Gen 3.
