[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Do you store your Glock in the factory case?

Hey guys/gals,

Do you store your Glock in the factory case (with the foam)? I wiped it down with CLP followed by a silicone cloth and have it in the case with the lid slightly cracked open. Are these okay for storage?

Throw a silica gel desiccant packet into the box and close the lid...then call it a day. Exchange the packet every quarter.

I don't store any guns in those cases. If you do you desiccant.

Consistent use brings constant maintenance. Are you looking for long term storage? Wipe down, keep desicant in the safe.

Yes long term. The safe has silica gel but I dont keep silica gel in the case itself because I heard that could cause issues.

If you have asafe just put it in the safe in no box/ rug etc and never store long term in a holster

I store them in old Glock tupperware boxes. Smaller and no foam

HTR.

This, but also under soda cushions, in cutaway books, in hollow picture frames, safe, hidden double secret special places. I've ne'er stored a pistol in its original box.

I never store guns long term in there cases. Learned that the hard way. Nice blue colt 1911. Had heavily oiled. Needless to say, ended up having splotchy rust rust spots all over. Never again!

Our Glock's are either in the gun safe or on our person. The factory boxes are all stored with NO weapons in them.

I can't hardly get my gun home, before I throw that "case" away! I either keep mine in a Pelican case, or a holster, or they live naked in the safe. That foam can hold moisture, and is not so good.

I guess ill be the odd man out. I like the cases and use all of them except the one for my old G17. Each one has four loaded mags, cleaning rod, small bottle of CLP, some patches and a small rag.

No. They fit in the safe much more easily out of the boxes.

i use my safe its a smaller one but holds like 4 pistols 10 long guns. or i keep one in my m tac holster and the other 2 in my night stand drawer next too the bed.

LOL...cases. Mine never get put in cases. They get stuck into the little pistol compartments in my Midway range bag. Before I got that bag, I just put them in the main compartment along with my ammo and mags. In the safe, I don't have room for a bunch of big clunky cases. I just pile them all in:

I don't store anything in a factory case. The only use I have for them is to put a gun in when it gets sold.

Holy crap - what i wouldnt give to have that many....My ONE and only glock, lol is in its case right now. sometimes it lives in a holster though. just depends.
