If TSHTF any gunshot wound is going to be a serious problem, because 911 won't be sending an ambulance to get you imediate help. Get both though, you never now what kind of ammo you'll scavenge.

Both are great guns but for SHTF, I think the G19/9mm round are the more logical choice

I still vote the 19. IMO it is the best SHTF pistol one could own. That being said, if you have a chance to pick up a Gen2 get it regardless, it's a Gen2 19.

Nice. I'm looking for a kydex holster for my newly purchased Gen2 19. So far I'm coming up short.

....doesn't matter.
9mm 40sw and 45ACP are all intermediate powered rounds. In modern defensive ammo you will get good results across the board. Placement, Penetration and expansion are key...nothing else. You shoot the caliber you feel most competent with....and in a SHTF scenario the only thing a pistol is for is to buy time to get to a shotgun or rifle. TRAIN TRAIN and then TRAIN some more Fate favors the prepared.... |

F the 19. Get the 17. As soon as I can afford it I'm getting a 17 and the 19 is going to the GF.
ETA: I have both a Gen 3 21SF and a Gen 3 19 |

I own both. If I had to choose I would keep one of my 19's. I love the 21, but economics among other factors lean heavily towards the 19

What do you like better about the M&P; what set it over the edge? Just curious. |

I just wish it had the reset of the Glocks or the PPQ (They don't make a RAM for a VTAC yet) |

I have a Gen 3 and 4 23 with conversion barrels, a Gen4 21, a G30SF and Gen4 30 (yup!) and a Gen4 17. I carry and shoot better with the Gen4 17 than any gun I have owned. I carry it now daily in a VG2 or a Raven LC. Don't rule out the G17 if you have the option. Its not much bigger and still conceals great.

I got to shoot a PPQ a little while ago and I was extremely impressed. |

If you stick with it Dave Ramsey will work. Good for you for taking the plunge. I would choose the G19 regardless but more so given your financial goals. The 124+p gold dots will make the 9mm stand on level ground with the. 45acp and the extra capacity is a bonus.
