THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Gen 3 G21 w/ Trijicons, 4 mags, vickers mag release and grip plug with 150 rds fmj and 40 of hornady tap Gen 2 G19 w/ Heinies, 3 mags, Desantis holster, vickers mag release, 100 rds Ranger Talon and 200 rds FMJ I can conceal both but the G19 conceals better. G19 is cheaper to shoot. G19 is lighter and slightly higher capacity. I'd feel more comfortable with 13+1 of .45 though. I can also put in a 10mm barrel for the woods. Most departments here issue the 21 now. I shoot both of these well having shot/owned others. Most of my friends use .45 as their shtf caliber but also have G19/G17 pistols. Haven't been able to make a decision. I like the Gen 2 G19 because I hate the finger grooves on the mid sized guns. I won't use the light rail. |

You're never going to have a SHTF situation that power of the 45 would outweigh the capacity and size of the 19 . Get the 19 and be comfortable with a concealable weapon with high round count. Shoot more with cheaper 9mm ammo and get better with said pistol.
Comparison of my 21sf and 19.
The 19 is quite a bit thinner and more comfortable. The 21 is my truck gun. |

Keep the 19.
Far easier to conceal, ammo is cheaper, increased capacity, and with today's bullet technology, 9mm HP performs as well as 40 or 45. 9mm ammo weighs alot less than 45, so if forced to bug out you can carry more rounds. |

Have a 19 and a 21. My 19 has a lot more carry time and rounds through it. It's just a very handy sized pistol with a good capacity and great shootability.
Also, I'm not sure that you could just drop in a 10mm barrel on a 21. The breech face would be a different size and I don't think the extractor would grab the 10mm rims. I may be wrong though. |

I have a g21 and a g23 with 9mm conversion. the 9mm gets much more range time as it is much cheaper. the g21 is laser accurate though.

JMO but I never understood the popularity of the G19.The G17 is only slightly larger and the grip is way more ergonomic

Given the choice, 19 FTW.
ETA: wearing a G17 right now. |

You cannot drop a G20 barrel into a G20. The breech fact is different and ejector is different. The ejector can be swapped out easily enough, but the slide won't be compatible. What you might be able to do is buy an after market 10mm conversion barrel designed to work with a G21 slide. I just checked the Lone Wolf web site and it doesn't look like they make one. Personally, if I want a gun in another caliber I would rather just buy one. Less headaches and more reliable.

Who wouldn't buy another gun if they had the money though? Really? |

.45ACP, aftermarket 10mm G21 barrel, and 10mm ammo do not match up with your financial plan.
9mm and Glock 19 do. And get more magazines... |

Go G19 and don't look back. I have fought this same decision for years now, and have finally just went with nothing but G19s. I sold all my .45s and gear for them and now have 3 G19s. One type of ammo, one kind of magazine, only one type of spare parts.
