I've not heard about it in a .40.
Are you limp wristing? |

Yep, it happens frequently with new Gen 3 and 4 Glocks. Mostly 9mm, but has happened in 40 as well as 45. I believe member Voyager had a Glock 27 with the erratic ejection problem.

I've heard of very few reports of this issue with the .40s, but I too remember reading about Voyager's G27. So, it can happen. I would have someone else shoot it just to see if they experience the same.

Are you experiencing any malfunctions?

No, it's unusual in Gen4 .40s.
What ammunition? How many rounds fired? Unless you're shooting mousefart reloads, it shouldn't be doing that, certainly not 1/3 of the time. |

Oh no. Not the 40 too!!! All my 40's eject like a champ, including my newish Gen 4 23. I hope it's the OP's wrist and not another Glock issue.

My newest gen 3 G22 is a couple years old, no brass in the face, it ends up between 3 and 5 O'clock about 8 feet or so behind me.

I hate to sound like some of those over on Glock Talk, but have someone else shoot it and make sure you're not limp wristing before you panic about it. Normally, I wouldn't even say it, but I had my Gen4 G22 out yesterday. It's never had a real problem. I let my wife shoot a mag out of it and, towards the end, she got dinged in the forehead twice in a row. I reminded her about locking her wrist and the problem immediately went away.
While I have read about problems with a few .40 guns, they seem to be few and far between and the problems seem to be predominantly restricted to 9mm. There HAVE, however, been a few issues. Have someone else shoot it and, if they have a problem, then you may have a problem gun. If they don't have a problem then, much as I hate to say it, it's you and not the gun. Glocks aren't very forgiving about limp wristing and it doesn't take much to cause a problem, especially on the new Gen4 guns. The dual recoil spring soaks up some of the recoil forces that the gun needs to run, so there's less margin of error for problems. Have someone else shoot it or run some good quality self defense ammo through it (you didn't say what ammo you were shooting, so this may not apply) and give it a workout and see if the problems go away or not. If they keep up, Glock is pretty good about taking care of problem guns and should fix you up. Bub75 |

Total of 8 Glock .40s here, all Gen3. All with the old style ejector. All eject perfectly, no brass anywhere near my head.

The Glock Gen 4, 9mm and .40 cal guns were the one's having most of the problems. After they fixed the spring issue (which effected all models of course), they discovered that some of the guns had extractor issues and issued a recall. Yours has an extractor issue!!!! I know this because I just bought a brand new G23 (.40 cal). I immediately started having jamming and extraction issues (so I know there are still a few of them out there). After a couple of trip to the range, I knew it wasn't a fluke and got tired of having brass hitting my face and having it jam, so I took it to the gunsmith. Sure enough, I had one of the bad ones and needed a new extractor. My spring was also crooked (like that out of the box), so that was replaced too. Although I'm sure Glock would have fixed these issues, this gun shop offers (for $20) a lifetime warranty on all new gun purchases! So it saved me from having to send it back to Glock. The gunsmith had some extra new springs and extractors (because of the previous issues I guess...he's an authorized Glock Armorer). So, take it back to the place you bought it from and tell them another lemon slipped past. They'll either replace the extractor (if they have them) or send the gun back to Glock. One interesting thing I read was that the "bad" Glocks, all had serial numbers starting with P,Q,R,S and a couple of others letters. Sure enough, mine started with an S. Coincidence? I think not. Also, supposedly all the "bad" Glocks had been taken care of months ago, mine was built in April...after the problem had been "fixed". Looks like you got a lemon too. No worries though, it's an easy fix.

Well I decided to do a complete stirp. I made sure to clean the hell out of the injector plunger and spring. Installed back together and got some federal 180 FMJ and it throws the brass just fine. Not sure it was the cleaning or the switch from the Winchester value pack from Wal-Mart which is 165 FMJ.
