It functioned very well with two types of cheap 9mm ammo. I bought a G19 extractor but didn't install it. No feeding or ejection problems at all. I hope to save some money in the long run with 9mm ammo, but I still like shooting the .40.

While shooting 9mm might seem a cheaper alternative, using the money to get into reloading is the most cost effective alternative by far. Cheapest 9mm ammo I can find on the net is $18 per 100 rds and I can reload 38spl,, 357mag, 40s&w, 45acp, and 10mm all for much lower per 100 costs.

Can you drop a 9mm barrel in a G22? What about mags?

My mistake, it's a Storm Lake barrel, and, yes, they make one for a G22. You have to use 9mm mags.

Thanks. I've got a 22, that is a safe queen. I may have to give this a try.

Try the 22 mags first. They work just fine for a lot of people.

Just in case you couldn't tell from the thread title, this is a dedicated .40 to 9mm conversion barrel. You can't drop a standard 9mm barrel (i.e., a G17 barrel) in a G22 as the external diameters are different.

IF you want the conversion to work reliably, use 9mm mags.
