I have an XD-9 and I recently sent it in to the Springfield custom shop to get the carry package done. I asked for a 4 pound trigger because the stock one was at around 6.5 pounds. Since then I have gotten it back, I have noticed my groups have become smaller since the trigger job. Would you consider this gun safe to carry with a round in the chamber? I love this gun very much and I shoot great with it.

It's perfectly fine for carry, just make sure it's in a holster which securely protects the trigger.

Thanks for the response and I'll be sure to get that type of holster.

The firearm is only as safe as the operator and the holster that is used.

All of my carry guns have 4lb triggers. I have two 1911 45ACPs and a S&W Shield 9mm and 4lb trigger are absolutely safe in all of them. I've had 6 1911s in the past and they all had 4lb triggers.

My duty gun is 3.75 LB"s apex but the length stayed the same. Reset changed though :)

Don't be stupid and walk around with a hair trigger or race set up. Hell look at devel and TIER 1 guys these days. Latest and greatest

What you just described is exactly how my trigger is same length of travel, slightly shorter reset, but mine has a 4 pound break. I love it, the Springfield custom shop did a great job.

When my department first changed over from revolver to semi auto we were issued Glock 23 with the New York trigger. I believe the trigger pull was 8 pounds. They were concerned that a lighter trigger pull would result in more accidental discharges. When we were issued newer model 23's it came with the standard 5.5 trigger and that's how they remain. On a carry weapon the only thing I change are the sights and leave the triggers alone and practice.

The Sig P938 in my pocket has a single-action trigger.  I don't worry about it going off unless I do something really stupid, like holster it without the safety on.
