As the title says looking to appendix/4 O clock carry a Shield, as well as something to carry while hiking that's accessible. Currently carry GLOCKS (19/17) IWB @ 4 O clock in a comp-tach Minotaur and like it but looking to get something more concealable for the summer months and lighter for hiking. I have always had leather or hybrids but am open to Kydex, just don't have any experience with it.

Thanks in advance for any advice....

I chose a Cooks kydex holster for my shield.

It was recommended to me by another member here.

It met all the criteria I was looking for, simple, easy to puton/take off, thin, adjustable cant, adjustable retention, kydex, etc

I absolutely love it.

Hope you find what youre looking for, good luck

ETA there is a few pics of it on page 1 of this thread

A iwb will not do aiwb well, just fyi. The opposite is true as well.

I used a F3 holster for a cheap aiwb. I carry a Ruger LC9 wich is very close in size to the Shield. It's fine hiking.

El Paso Saddlery

ETA Works pretty slick as a pocket holster also.

So I have the IWB/OWB covered with my current  rigs. What would be a good AIWB holster that people would recommend? I think that will be my primary means of carry for the Shield.

Thank you for all the replies so far.

I make them.

I use one like this:

That one can be used at 4:00 or Appendix.

If you are looking for a dedicated Appendix holster, there are a few tweaks that can be made to help keep the grip from printing through your T-Shirt.

Just buy a purpose built AIWB, not some straight drop job with no tuck that really wasn't built for AIWB.  Recommend and use JM Custom/CCC.

Purpose built AIWB is my recommendation, not dual use.

The INCOG is designed as AIWB and functions very well. It happens to be easily adaptable to IWB 4:00 through removal of one of the belt clips and angling of the other for cant

It couldn't compare to my JM Custom or CCC Shaggy.  I tried all three.

You have to conceal while you're hiking?  That blows.

I can't imagine carrying IWB with a pack on, especially if it's a properly fitted pack (rides a little higher than most people think it should).

Not so much to conceal while hiking but have a pistol that's compact and light enough to hike with. On big hikes weight adds up. I've never AIWB before so I was looking for input before I made purchases that didn't work out.

I wish I could say the same about the Shield itself........

Thank you everyone for your input. Once I get it back from S&W (hopefully fixed) and am finally confident enough to carry it, I'll start experimenting with AIWB.

Hah, sorry. No, I had to place it on the outside of the belt so it didn't slump inwards. The leather wings allow the holster to flex and contour.
