Looking for something similar, of course not exact, but not much bigger than the .380 pocket guns like the LCP.

It's actually for a friend to try. She's about 5'7", but slim, maybe 110lbs. Her hands aren't tiny though with her height and build.

She's looking at the LCP .380, but with the cost and availability of ammo, and with increased effectiveness of 9mm, I was thinking maybe that would be better if the size difference isn't too much, and the recoil isn't too much more in comparison.

My last wife and I both owned the Kel Tec P3AT pistols, and they were a but snappy, but not bad. I haven't shot any of the 9mm single stacks, and haven't shot any pocket pistols in years, except for my first wife's LCP a couple of years ago when she got her CCW.

I know this girl needs to shoot the guns, but it would be good to narrow it down before going to a range.

No pics, she ain't mine, sort of legally taken.

If she's already looked at the LCP why not try the LC9.  The new ones are striker fired so that should take care of the absolutely horrible trigger pull.

This or PM9

The Kimber Solos are nice but finicky on ammo

Also if she is competent for cocked and locked.  Not everybody is....P938

The LC9s is the answer you seek.  I sold my LCP shortly after buying an LC9s.  It just a tad larger, and nearly as thin as the LCP.  But has an awesome trigger and 9mm>.380

Sig P938. My wife loves it too as she can manipulate the slide on it. I don't think you could go wrong with a Shield or LC9s either.

I carry a Kahr PM9. But honestly, I've found a S&W 442/642 to be even lighter and is less noticeable in the pocket than the PM9.

I researched the OP's question not too long ago and the clear answer was the CM9.  Very good reviews from regular folks like us.

The PM9 is a slightly better quality version, but is quite a bit more expensive.

She's a shooter, so not unfamiliar. Taking her to the range to shoot ARs Friday if the weather holds out, but might go to PSA, since she does like the LCP and they have good deals right now. Not 100% sure yet.

I suggested that, seems everybody likes them.

As to the P938, PSA has been good on them, don't know if they still have the same ones they got cheap, but they were selling them right several months ago.

Probably one of the slimest would be the Diamondback DB9.
But I would not recommend it because Diamondbacks are notorious for breaking.
My PM9 weighs 20 ounces fully loaded and is absolutely reliable.

Since you already have Kel-Tecs, then the natural answer is a PF-9. The first gen ones were pretty unreliable, but the current crop seems to be better.  Mouse gun comparison chart.

My wife really likes her P238, and shoots it well.  She was also fairly proficient with her SW BG380.

I have a P938, which is a bit on the bigger side, but is a pussycat to shoot, and I'm pretty confident it literally disappears when you carry it IWB.

imo the heavier, smaller guns make for better women's pistols; they're less intimidating than the snappy recoil of BG380/LCP/TCP, etc. but still carry well.  G42 might be a good one to try also.

p938 handles and shoots better than it has any business doing, and with PSA slinging them out at $500... not bad.

I'd rather put a hundred rounds downrange with my p938 than 10 or 20 through my airweight J-frame.  They are great shooters.

Probably a good idea to wait until you can get hands on the new g43 as well, though I thought it would be lighter.

XDS 9MM or Shield 9MM

Shield 9MM has a thinner grip, so if she has smaller hands or shorter fingers, it will probably 'fit' her grip better.

I owned several Kahrs and was happy with them, until I wasn't.  Here is my story.

I took my K9 out and shot the mag of carry ammo, 50 rounds of practice ammo, cleaned the gun, loaded it up with Gold dots, and put it back in the holster.  2 months go by and for whatever reason I decided drop the mag.  Something didn't look right with the mag.  The follower was split in two.  There I was walking around with a single shot pistol for a couple of months.    I did some reading and shitty mags are a common enough issue.   Sold off all my Kahrs and never looked back.

I got a P938-Sports-13 for ~ $520 new at my LGS about a year or so ago. It came from the factory with Hogue grips, a 6 rd and 7rd magazine, holster, rear night sights, and a front tritium-fiber optic sight.

Compared to what I paid for a new Kel-tec PF9 that never worked reliability and the fact the PF9 shot worse at 7yds than the P938 does at 25 yards it is well worth the money. Buy once, cry once.
