I've got the Maxpedition universal holster.  When used inside their carry pocket, it works great.  I even carry a heavy HK P7 in it, and it is very secure.  I'm not sure how secure that it would be inside a larger compartment.

I have the Maxpedition Universal in my work bag and the LBX holster in my backpack (B.O.B./G.H.B.).  I have the Maxpedition Dual Mag Insert as well as the Triple Mag Insert.  They all work well and having both give me more options depending on the situation.
