Yes.  As someone else said, more so for the unlikely event of a failure than because I need more ammo, but an extra magazine covers both.

Amen

Even though my primary pistol is reliable , I'm always worried about malfunctions or getting shot in the right arm/hand.

Anyone know of a good way to carry a mag in a pocket other than just sticking it in there?

I use to pocket carry mags

Use a uncle mikes pocket holster they cost around 9 bucks

Really I have fell in love with Wilderness Horizontal Mag Holder that Velcro's on my belt for a easy off/on.
I wear it between 11-12   HP down and makes for one of the fastest reloads for me.

Spare mag and and a spare gun.

Of course. Not only are more rounds better, but magazines can be the cause of a lot of malfunctions.

No I do not. I probably should.

Yes I do. I toss an extra bag in my pocket during the summer, and I carry it on my belt in the winter

I used to carry 7rd mags for my backup gun (Kahr CM9) loose in pockets, but have switched to a Center of Mass kydex clip-on carrier on the belt.  Also carry a 17rd 9mm mag for my Glock 19, with Glock mag carrier. Spare mags are at 8:00-9:00 position.

OP, yes. One reload in a mag carrier in the belt - always.

That only works if you're fighting Superman.

Depends on what I carry. I carry an extra with my 938. But when I carry my 57 I figure 20 should be enough.

No. Should though.

Sometimes I do, mostly I don't.  If I don't I'm usually carrying a NY reload.

I always carry 1 extra 8 rd. mag. I usually carry a 1911 4" 45ACP.  I have a bad back and sometimes the weight of the 45 was just too much.  So last week I bought a S&W 9mm Shield and also carry a spare 8 rd mag with it.

I have 4 guns I sorta rotate as CCW, two revolvers and two pistols. For each I carry TWO reloads, either magazines or speedloaders.

I don't think I would if I carried a full size, but for my Nano I carry 1 spare mag and keep another in the car.

6+1, 7 for the reload & another 6 just in case.

Why only 7 in the 8 round mag? Because 7 + 7 + 6 = one 20 round box of defensive ammo.

I carry 2 spare mags in my IWB tuckable HBE mag holster for my 1911. I always carry 1-2 spares with the 1911, 1 20rd spare for the CZ75B.

With my cw9 I keep an extra mag in my pocket. With my beretta usually not, but I'll have 2 in my car.

I should but I generally don't.  I did while the whole Ferguson thing was going on and did for a while after the Zimmerman verdict.  It's not even uncomfortable, I just don't usually.  I may change that.

If I'm wearing a belt then I'll keep an extra mag in a horizontal knife pouch. If I'm wearing gym shorts or some such then no.

Equipment fails, and the magazine is the weakest link in a semi-auto pistol. So I would always carry one extra even if I had a pistol charged with one of those 33-round Glock monsters. It's inconvenient, but ...

I went to walmart yesterday, a 13 in my handgun, two 15s on my belt and two more 15s in my jacket pocket. Plus two knives

That's still not enough for me to go into a Walmart.

I always carry at least 2 spare mags no matter what I am carrying.  Sometimes (like when I am dressed more casual), I'll actually carry 3-4 spare mags. 2=1, 1=0.

Always carry at least one spare magazine but more times than not I carry 2.  For the most part I have found it is as easy to conceal one as it is 2.

I never used to carry a spare mag very often, but lately I've found myself carrying one if not two spare mags with me anywhere I go.  That's just off duty.  On duty, I carry several.

I never used to. But lately i have tried to start carrying a spare more consistently. As others have said, its not really because i think i'll need the extra rounds. More because of malfunction/loss of primary mag.

Almost never. I carry a PPK/S with 7 rounds and am OK with that. Only time I usually have a spare is when I'm on the road and throw my spare in the console.
