THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Concerning concealed carry... looking at the IWB holsters. It looks like those can only be used if you are wearing an untucked shirt. Is that correct or am I not looking at them correctly? Thanks, bluesticky |

Some are tuckable some are not. It should be specified by the manufacturer somewhere if it can be tucked or not.
Check out comptac, I have multiple holsters from them, some tuck, some don't. |

Tucking works with the properly designed clips. It's somewhat of a pain to get the shirt to look natural AND the clips are exposed afterwards. It is also highly recommended that you purchase a 'gun' belt because you need something stout enough to keep the gun from sagging while making sure your pants don't have that cinched potato sack look.
I have the CompTac Spartan and wore out a 5.11 stiff leather 'gun' belt with an M&P 9c. Since then, I use the following solution.... http://www.ak47.net/forums/t_5_23/119307_New_Holster_for_my_Kahr_CM9.html The above solution is VERY comfortable and no clips show. If you bend over, the gun will still print and someone can still inadvertently touch your gun when they approach from behind. I've had this happen during business situations as well as social situations. Also, It does look odd when you bend at the knees while keeping your back straight while picking up a pen... When I don't want the gun to print and / or be accidentally touched I use a customized 3Speed holster. NO ONE knows I'm carrying my M&P 9c along with a 17rd magazine. I don't know about anyone else, but when I'm wearing a suit or a sport coat there has hardly ever been a time that I will keep that jacket on during the entire outing. At the very least I remove it for the car / SUV. |

Crossbreed Super Tuck holsters are tuckable and an option you can get on the clips are ones that attach to the back of a belt with velcro. You need a special belt but you don't see any clips when carrying. Other manufacturers make the same thing, but I'm partial to Crossbreed holsters and hardware.

I've carried tucked over with a Comp-tac CTAC many times. I don't particularly like it. It's a bit of a pain getting dressed (getting the shirt tucked well over the holster) to look normal. Unless you get the velcro style clips that go behind the belt only, the clips will be visible. I also feel like it's a bit noticeable still in that the belt does not go smoothly around the shape of your body in that particular spot. I work with quite a few people who carry IWB tucked and, while I am looking for it and know what to look for, I find it quite noticeable.
For concealed carry with business casual dress, my answer is ankle carry. |

Thanks again everyone.
And thanks Flatulence for that link showing how it goes together. http://www.ak47.net/forums/t_5_23/119307_New_Holster_for_my_Kahr_CM9.html I had not thought of that option. bluesticky |

I have carried while tucked and it was weird getting my shirt just right, but after that it was like carrying any other way, IWB. Black clips on a black belt and no one looking at my waist area. I have noticed that a smaller gun works better (I was carrying a M&P full size, then tried a compact model) and its a lot bigger difference tucked than untucked.
I would carry no matter what, and if it doesnt work for you, then you may need to try another method of carry, or a different carry setup. I have been thinking a JFrame in a CTAC would be a very concealable package tucked or not. And remember, some holster setups offer different clip setups (CompTac comes to mind) that can change the look of your belt, hiding it more. |

I have found that my MTAC with the V-Clips (velcro) works very well for business attire. I have two different belts I use, a Beltman bullhide with velcro and a cheap Walmart special where I lined the inside with velcro. Both work surprising but the bullhide is obviously the better choice. I switch between a M&P9c and a Kahr CW9.
I dont find tuckable IWB to be pain to get on in the morning. It does take a few more minutes to get it tucked in properly but I have never had a problem concealing it. |

Maybe I haven't spent enough time experimenting, but I could never make "tucked" IWB carry work. I looked like I had a big growth on my hip, and if I moved the gun further back it just looked like I had a growth on my ass instead.

How about a shoulder holster under your shirt?

I carry a Glock 19 IWB with a tucked in polo for work. I use the Galco Sky Ops and have been very happy with it.

I recommend CTAC or MTAC. I have tried Crossbreed and honestly cannot believe why anyone would buy one over a Comp-tac.
The MTAC is way more comfortable. |

Depending on the weather and how I'm dressed I use a couple options:
Warm weather light golf shirt = P64 in ankle holster Warm weather heavier shirt = P64 in belly band holster Cold weather = J frame in belt slide under sweatshirt My wife prefers the belly band with her J frame all year round. |

Yeah, I have that problem, I think it is mainly me over-thinking it. Only been outed one time and it was by a friend that knew I usually CC. |

Tucked, untucked, undershirt, no undershirt, T-shirt, Hawaiian shirt, polo shirt, tie, no tie, whatever. Pants, shorts, sweats, jeans, belt, no belt, whatever. No issues with it jamming into my side when seated in a car or office chair, and I can use the urinals in a public restroom with no problem. The only time I couldn't use it is if I have to go shirtless, which is extremely rare. When I'm in a situation where people are getting too close or huggy, I can clamp down my left arm over it. Nobody has ever noticed, or if they have, they haven't told me. Not even my wife. And since it doesn't require a belt, you don't have the belt accentuating the bulge on your waist. And I have not had to alter my wardrobe. With many IWB, you need to get pants with a bigger waistband. The drawback is the draw stroke, which is quite unconventional and will require practice. But it is better than not carrying, which is what happened out of frustration when I was using IWB (I had a top-of-the-line IWB with a custom belt to go with it). As background, I'm 6'4", 225lbs. I do need to wear business casual a lot, but hardly ever a suit and tie. I carry a Ruger SP-101 with a Bianchi speed strip reloader. |

I've carried tucked-in IWB successfully many times and still do occasionally, but it takes so long in the bathroom putting your holster on and getting your shirt right.
However, when you're wearing the right pants and shirt, it's very unnoticeable. You're just paranoid about "the bulge" more than anything else and it looks worse to you (because you're looking down at it) than everyone else. I actually found that wearing a IWB tuckable magazine pouch on the other side evens out the beltline and makes things even less noticeable. But I prefer to carry a .32 pocket gun (Keltec P32 with CT laser grip) in my back pocket just because it's so damn easy. |
