Plus, this seems to earn me some good will with the cop, and often times a little leniency. Some cops hand it back as I gave it to them after the stop. Other cops have handed it back stripped with empty mags and a handful of loose rounds(aggravating when you have 17 rnd mag and spares). One cop couldn't figure out how to field strip my Taurus 24/7. One cop had a nice discussion with me about how I liked my LCP(no ticket there). I feel like I get pulled over more than most... Fortunately there aren't too many Napoleons running around my city. WTF would an LEO need to field strip your pistol?? Hell I still dont get why they took all my rds out of my spare mags. Nothing like sitting off the side of 16Th in INDY loading mags back up at night. Who knows what goes through there minds? I'd love to have them try and take all the rounds out of my spare mags, I regularly keep 5 17rnd, 3 15rnd, 2 11rnd, and 2 33rnd mags in my truck loaded. He would need a big baggy. P.S. Last stop I was at did not disarm me, bery proffesional and we chatted, funniest part was when he asked me if I was hunting Zombies LOL |

I've been stopped twice while carrying. Ticketed for speeding once. Neither time did the officer ask anything except where the weapon was. Since it was holstered and my hands were on the wheel they just did their thIng and sent me on my way.

It's against the law, but there's no penalty for breaking the law. Not a felony, not a misdemeanor...... Logic vs. law. Which one wins a cage match? I know!! I know!!! MAGNETS!!!! ![]()

That's because laws aren't made to be logical. They are just what results when opposing sides argue and arrive at some kind of compromise that they can kinda-sorta-live-with-for-now-I-guess.

I inform, they will find out anyway.
The one time I was pulled over the officer said "good deal, keep it close, you never know when you will need it". |

When I was being finger printed for CCW, the officer's main advice was NOT to hesitate to use it if you feel your life is in danger. He said it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
My response with a wink..... "What's the reason I'm here again?" As with damn near every cop I've encountered in my adult life.... he was another cool guy just out here making his way in life like the rest of us. ![]() |

Four stops in 10 years.
Two asked where it was, one asked what I carry, One just gave my CHL back and wrote a ticket, didn't ask anything. |

I was stopped last month by a FL trooper. Took both mine and the sammich makers glocks AFTER he found out I was police. Ran the ser #'s on both and tried to give me a rash of shit when he asked for our carry permits and I told him I don't need one as I'm fulltime LEO and in MY car. 20 min into the stop with him going back and forth from my car to his with a few "my FTO" stories from him I tell him either write me the ticket or let me go, I have another 6 hours of driving ahead of me. He then has me open the hatchback on my car and puts the Glocks in there, empies all the rounds out of the mags, hands me the empty mags and tells me to be careful and don't load back up until I'm back in GA. As he is making the u turn to go back the other way I open the hatch and start stoking the mags back up. He kept going. What the fuck are they teaching rookies these days?

I got stopped by FHP once. Asked if I had anything in the car, I told him I had a glock in the glove compartment in a holster. He retrieved it and asked for my CWP. He asked if he could run the serial number, I said no problem. He came back 5 minutes later with the glock in the holster and put it back in the glove compartment, still loaded like he had found it |

Been stopped a few times, everytime on my bike.
![]() Some call that a Hint.
They've always asked if I'm armed; I tell them yes, and where its at. If they take it (sometimes they do, sometimes they don't) they usually set it on the hood of their car while we discuss my latest traffic infraction.
The last time it happened the cop didn't even ask to see my CCW or m drivers license. I think it has to do with my attitude though, I'm very compliant, mindful what I do with my hands and how fast they move, and even let him conduct a simple frisk afer I handed over my weapon. Contrary to GD opinion, cops are our friends. |

A local sheriff's deputy was stopped some time back, and his agency issued weapon was taken for the duration of the traffic stop. Word is, the sheriff made a phone call to the FHP commander and politely explained that the next time one of his weapons was taken, it had better have something to do with a criminal investigation or there was going to be some unhappiness. |

Heck, I haven't had any sour dealings with a cop since I was a punk kid. That doesn't make me loose sight of the fact that they aren't ALL nice and respectful... as can be seen from the posts on this thread alone. The Enforcemnt Arm has my respect and full support, but that support isn't unconditional any more than we are willing to give our Politician's that kind of absolute power. IMO, if a cop takes my gun without solid reason, then he should be fired the moment his super's view the tape after I've complained. |
