Guys, I dropped my CZ VZ-58 off at my dealer to have the non ported muzzle cover removed so I can add a brake or flash suppressor.  I was unable to remove and so was he, so he called CZ and found out that it was silver soldered on..  He then called to warn me about heating it up to remove could damage the barrel finish and threads..  What do I do????

I would rather learn how to live without muzzle brake than risk damaging the barrel. 7,62x39mm is not hard hitter.
As a matter of fact i would like to remove my compensator, but its glued so well its pretty damn impossible...

I'm not a welder by trade. So I may get terminology mixed up.

You're rifle is a Czech Small Arms/Czechpoint vz. 58 rifle? Correct? You may have bought it and it came in a CZ marked box. But the front sight base has no bayonet lug on it, the stupid unthreaded extension and the receiver is marked "D-Technik"? Correct. Then it's a CSA gun. And the extension should not be silver soldered on, the correct term is puddled welded. Or is puddled welded and silver soldered the same or similar? Anyway. The the barrel does not need to be heated. The barrel extension needs to be removed. The threads cleaned up in need be. And then the the new brake or extension
(this in an option: http://www.cncwarrior.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=25797) Needs to have two holes drilled in them. Then puddled welded and smoothed over. Then painted. This is how CSA/Czechpoint does their rifles. And when Czechpoint sells guns with things like brakes attached (not just the extension). They remove the extension and puddled weld on the the brake. And clean it up.

A little different way:

Regardless, there is no need to heat up the barrel. Any competent gunsmith can do the swamp if they're comfortable doing it. No need to heat up the entire barrel or thread with silver soldered. On the guns that Czechpont sells with brakes on them. The extension is permanently attached on overseas. And then removed here and replaced with something else permanently.

Contact Troy at InRange. They did work for me in the past with a vz. 58. And they do some work for Czechpoint as well.

If it is in fact silver soldered on. Then that's the first I've ever heard of it on any rifle from a factory. But more than likely you're getting bad information from the company that merely sold someone elses product.

I supposed it might be a build from someplace like ORF or something?

Jack flag pretty much hit it right on the money on the  silver puddle weld on the csa barrel extension.....at least on mine.   Years ago had my lgs remove it upon my request while I was present with a pipe wrench,  pretty much to crack the 2 welds.  If you want I can post pics of the extension removed
