Looks like it replaces the rear sight.

Any comments on good or bad?

Looks ideal if you are trying to keep the stock look.

Well I thought about getting the NEA upper handguard but I don't want my red dot co witnessed with the irons. Does the rear sight get in the way of the dot when you do that? At least when you co witness an AR you can flip down the sights. I've never used an AK style rifle with a red dot. Am I thinking wrong about this?

It really comes down to preference, I have the NEA hand guard mounted on mine, with a Bushnell 2xMP red dot.  The back of the red dot sits over the rear sight.  Keep in mind I have a straight stock adapter on it as well, which pretty much renders the sights useless.

So with the red dot you don't see the iron sights? Or is the dot over the iron sights enough that you don't see them in the sight picture? I'm thinking of getting a stock adapter too and wasn't sure about the straight vs angled.

I had one, but ended up removing it because I want to have Iron sights as back up.

You can remove the rail and the base has a rudimentary leaf in it.  I just wanted something with the ability to quickly shift to irons if the dot went down.

It's a good mount, but not in line with my preferences.
