Ok, so I'm pretty much an AK neophyte. I'm planning on building an SBR out of either a Draco or an M92.

Do I need to change out the rear trunion on the Draco to put a side folding stock on it?

Yes and no depending on the stock you want.

I drilled and tapped my rear with a folder adapter and ran a sig brace for awhile.

I've done both.

Ended up having the truniom swapped for a standard one. Best outcome.

Will a fixed-stock trunnion swap into a Draco pistol? Or do you have to relocate the rivet holes?

I have a Draco 12" SBR pending 10/03/16, wanting to put a fixed stock on it.

This is old but I will answer. Commercial side folding adapters like those offered by Ace and Stormwerks fit without a change of the trunnion. You have lot's of stocks that will fit that hinge. If you want a military side folding stock then you will have to change out the trunnion.

Used JBI out of Texas for the reweld and install. I refinished once it got back.

Wouldn't use him again thou - workmanship is great - customer service sucks major ass.

I did that on my last Draco SBR. This time I wanted a fixed-stock. Not sure how hard it will be.

there's a member on here (who I can't recall at the moment) that drilled 1 hole in the middle of the trunnion, and used a Yugo M70 stock.

Rivets for rear trunnion get delivered today. Not sure when rivet tool will arrive. Got it fit up using drill bits to hold trunnion in place, fitting furniture and hardware. Looks great!

Side note - apparently the buttplate I ordered is for a polymer stock. Won't fit my Ironwood Designs wood stock. Anyone have any leads?

Update:

She's done!

Never messed with an AK before. Found out it's pretty simple. One rivet hole was off a hair, but after welding and grinding, and having it cerakoted- it all looks great! Can't wait to shoot it.

Thanks. Glad I did it myself. Might build a full gun down the road.
