I want to build a short ak.

Is a 12.5" gun a waste of a stamp?  I'm thinking an AMD65 with a triangle or full side folding stock.

I'd love something "krink" like, but I don't feel much like buying a new gun.  Cutting down a Romanian"g" kit is another option for me.

Also, does anyone have any input about using a home built receiver on a NFA build?

Thanks for any ideas

i have a 12.5 556 ak its kind of the same
people tell me i wasted a stamp all the time but honestly i think its the best combo of compactness and ballistics
especially with a folding stock

Look at the AK-104 and AK-105 for Russian factory 12.5" barreled AK's. I'm building a 105 right now.

A Draco SBR is an option too.

Just picked up an M&M M10 that I will make into a 12.5" SBR. I have also read that Century will have a small run of WASR's out this year with the same set up as the M10's so you can cut them down pretty easy. I found the M10 for $500 locally. That is gonna be one of the easiest ways, imho, to accomplish what you are after. I know you said you wanna build it, but if you can find one cheap, I think it will be hard to beat.

You can go From This

I'm doing a 7.5" mini draco SBR, it'll hit at 150 yards or less and that's what counts

I have a draco thats about 11.75" barrel that i sent the form off for first and i have an amd 65 thats a rifle now that I will file in the next 60 days or so though. Its a great rifle and being able to change he muzzle device at will, will be worth it imo.

If my state gets it's stuff together in time, I'm thinking that I'm going to build my AMD on a Khyber pass flat from ak-builder with a triangle folding stock.

Is everyone just cutting the barrel and using a new fsb?
Any gas tuning needed to make a 12.5 run with and wothout a can?
drawbacks to using a full length had tube/piston?
