Assuming you had the same amount of ammo and mags for each, which would you pick and why?  And no, can't get both.

M92, because the 95 doesn't even exist :)

Yes, I believe OP meant M85 not 95.

I went with M85NP due to using AR15 mags.  Great if your friends have AR15, so you can share mags/ammo.

I went with 2x M92.  My understanding is that 7.62x39 has a smaller loss (200 fps) out of a short barrel.

just like kilo_gsd said about the 200fps about the m92 with the 7.62x39 the m85 with the 223/5.56 looses more fps due to the short barrel and that's why a lot of people go to the 300 blackout round in the ar 15 formatwith the short barrels.soooo with that said the m92 is better in the short barrel than the 5.56. don't get me wrong the 5.56 will still do some damage.i

I went with the M85....

I dont care about FPS, terminal velocity, bullet coefficient, or any other internet technical BS.

I wanted an AK that used AR mags and was cheap so I could shoot wolf through it all day and not clean it ever....and I got that with the M85.

It makes holes and it goes bang.

If I want to get all fancy and have a super dooper 77gr SMK perfectly-fragmenting matched setup I'll use one of my AR's.

Just ordered a M92 to SBR, 7.62x39 makes more sense in an AK platform imo.

M92

harder hitting, cheaper, easier to get and more reliable mags

Get both if you can stretch your budget.

M92 first, then M85 if you can.  Both are great.

I went with the M85 for the CL barrel and I don't have any other 556 AKs. You can find factory steel mags on sale for pretty dam cheap. AR adapters don't do it for me, not AK enough.

I got the plastic magwell AR-mag version and don't regret it. I could use all 900 of my current magazines and ammo, no need for new parts.

If in the future for some reason i really wanted to remove the plastic magwell, I could have it removed and the piece they grinded down to fit it re-welded on by an AK smith.
