M92 Muzzle Device wobbly? - Page 1

Bought one of those NightShroud (I think that's correct) Muzzle Devices for my SBR and it wont time correctly. Its wobbles still and is the only single thing I have left to correct for it to be 100% finished. It will alllllllmost go to the next notch in the brake but wont quite get there. Any way to shim these things? Thanks in advance

I have seen videos where people have taken some material off the back of the muzzle device to get it to the next notch. You can use a stone like the type used to sharpen a knife or a fine file. Go slow. If it is close it won't take much at all.

ALL muzzle brakes on an AK will wobble.

Unless there's another issue, it's 100% normal.

It's probably best that it does wobble a tiny bit. It if fit tight, then it might get stuck when it's got powder fouling, or heaven forbid- rust, in it.

My manticore break was rock solid on my M92, maybe I got lucky. Contact Sven at Manticore arms or file it down a little. Sven is VERY customer friendly

My Nightbrake is solid, no wobble at all. I would contact Sven before you go shaving stuff off. I have tons of ARs but my M92 is my first AK pattern firearm and I am still learning so I am no source of hard set knowledge, just my opinion.

AK muzzle thread specifications (set by those crazy Eastern Europeans) are inherently loose unlike say the 1/2x28 tpi on an AR-15.

They also are not "timed" so there is never any way to guarantee where the notch will end up. Even if we put 20 notches on the back (there isn't enough room for that, but you get the idea) inevitably it would not line up for some guns.

File a little bit off the back until it reaches the next notch, we will still warranty it.

Thank you Sven. Figured you would chime in sooner or later, didn't really want to bother you with it since it wasn't a pressing matter. Love the stock as well by the way
