I want to be able to remove the safety like a non-Serbian AK, don't want to remove the trigger pivot pin to remove. Can the safety be filed down so it clears the trigger and if it can, what portion of safety gets filed?

Yes, the safety in it is a full auto safety, a non yugo one is usually a semi auto safety. The difference is the semi is notched and the full is not, see link, https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR45MxNCcHB979QwiSUWXRV7AbQzdQ4TS4kiECruIaPOMWhbInW_w
