Hello, I've been lurking a while and finally joined and want to thank you all for all I've learned so far. I bought a Draco a while back with the intention of going the form 1 route and throwing a stock on but because I'm .mil I won't always be in SBR friendly territory. I've settled on converting it to a full length carbine and was looking into blind pinning one of these..

http://www.tapco.com/products/ak/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=238

to one of these

http://aa-ok.com/2-inch-ak-barrel-extension.html

and pinning those to the barrel. The 11.5" draco plus the 2" extention plus the 2.81" tapco break should put me over 16" but I'm worried about falling short due to the threads interlocking. Any one here with experience with either of these products or know where I can get my hands on a 3" extention?

Why not save yourslf a headache and just sell the draco and buy a ak rifle rather han adding to the draco to make it a rifle?

my Draco shoots good groups on a sling and great from the bench. The only plus to a regular rifle to me is increased sight radius but it's just not worth it to me.

haha this was one of the draco to carbine conversions that served as inspiration it just "looks right", well done sir. shame you don't remember where you got the f/hider, google was not my friend on this one. Do you mind if I ask how you attached it, it looks like you pinned it underneath but there is also a little discoloration which makes me think silver solder.

Try this http://usmachinegun.com/proddetail.php?prod=AK47-55SS it's the flash hider in that picture. Also, if you want something "beefier", you can try this http://usmachinegun.com/proddetail.php?prod=FS-AK03 a fake can.

So now, if I pin and tack an extended break on my draco, put my UF stock thats at my brothers house on it, it turns it into a rifle. Do I have to do any paperwork to do this? Or is it just do it and be done? Just thinking of it as an option till I get the cash together to sbr it. $40 now is a lot easier to come up with.

No form 1/paperwork, approval. or tax required to convert your pistol into a rifle.

Check out CNC Warrior. They have everything you need. Even a draco specific adapter that allows you to put a extended Bulgarian 4 piece(which they sell) on it thus bringing it to legal length. They are good people as I've bought a ton from them.

That bulgarian break is beautiful. Here come the dumb questions; 1. so would I attach the outer body to the adapter and the adapter to the barrel? 2. is the cone insert removeable for cleaning?

Don't settle, I'm active duty and I've got 9 NFA items and more on the way. At most you'll have to lock the stuff up for a few years while you're in enemy territory. Meanwhile, go ahead and enjoy it while you can.

We'll have to call it early quantum state phenomenon. Only way to fit 5000 species of mammal on the same boat.

I'm from Texas, what country are you from?

Couldn't agree more with Josh. I've got 5 and am possibly picking up an SMG in January. Don't let the fact that you're .mil keep you from owning NFA especially if your parents live in an NFA friendly state. That's where all my stuff is going if I get sent off to a non friendly state.

I first came to this site for the storehouse of knowledge here, but stayed for the hate.~ColKlink

You can SBR and then pin an extension on if you have to move, and remove it later when legal.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that since it will still be on a Form 1. You'll have redo the Form 1 and tax the way you're suggesting.
