THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I'm about to work up a Mini SBR and I'm trying to decide if going with a side folder is a better choice than just the pig nose adapter and a stock.. Anyone have an opinion? |

I just like the idea of a small sized, rifle round shooting, reliability beast that can fit inside a backpack. What's the point If you're not going to have a side folder/under folder?
Only more so when you have to spend an extra $200 for a stamp... |

Once you've drilled and tapped the trunion, it's a five minute job to change from a hinge to a pignose. So in the great Arfcom tradition - get both!
ETA - damn I wish the stamp for my mini would come in. |

Here is what I did take it with a grain of salt or use the info. I had the ace sidefolder and the pig nose i liked it but, you got to mill the surface area thats meeting with the trunion of the sidefolder mech and the same goes with the pig nose ( the pig nose has a raised portion that fits into a slot on oneside of the folder mech and the other side of the folder mech has the raised portion again)so they dont start to turn when you tighten them down. what i did was make a pig nose out of steel and tig welded it to the trunion

The hump on the backside of the ACE folder is fine if you're mating it to an ACE adapter that has the groove to accept it. If you're stocking a Draco, it might be better to look at the Stormwerkz folder, it doesn't have this hump. Also the Stormwerkz locks in both the open & closed positions. To keep the Stormwerkz folder from twisting, I drilled my mounting holes diagonally. In other words, I drilled the hole for the left slot in the bottom position & the hole for the right slot in the top position. Mounting your folder in that manner will prevent any possibility of it twisting.

So in regards to quality/durability, would you go with Ace or Stormwerkz??

I like that ZEME05. Kinda maintains that AK look. How do you like the Stromwerkz adapter?

I wanted something different. I installed a VZ58 folding stock.

I only have used the Stormwerke but I've heard it is a stronger design than ACE.

No looseness at all, locks up tight. The design has a taper that should stay tight. Fake can is from FTF industries $29

Does anyone make a 'pignose' adapter that doesn't have a bump/ridge on the back of it?

just file the hump off, its aluminum. took me 10min on my ace pignose should take less if you choose to use a grinder.

Why don't you see more under folders on the Mini Draco SBRs? It seems like a natural choice since its the most compact stock when folded.

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I considered one when I SBR'd my Mini for that very reason. The problem is the cheek weld on underfolders is terrible. I went with a Stormwerkz hinge and a Magpul MOE stock. |

So I have a Stormwerkz folding stock adapter on the way for my Draco. For those of you who have done it, can you give me a rundown on what you did to drill and tap the mounting holes? Do's and don'ts, what worked best for you and what you wished you would have done better?
