P.S. I love that mini sight on there! I may pick the new Primary Arms clone of that.

The weld had dripped into the gap between the barrel and the nut and I had to cut farther down than what I had anticipated in order to get the nut free.  I finally did it and replaced the nut with a slant break I had until I find something I like better.  I am going to SBR this so I did a little photoshopping.  Now I need to decide on black or FDE for the stock.  What do you think?

I can see how that weld would be tough. The weld on my Draco was so little I think I could of just broken it off just by unscrewing the muzzle nut. AS FOR the stocks. Tough call. I really like the idea of FDE for the stock but the color mismatch turns me off. The black is safer but if magpuls FDE is semi close in color to the grip and the rail, I'd rock that hard, soooo hard. The slant muzzle break looks good

I think the color should be close.  That was just a quick and dirty attempt, I really didn't try to match the colors.  You can see the black is off also.  I had way more weld in mine than yours, it just took a steady hand and some patience.

Just got back from the range.  Only shot 40 rounds but it was enough to sight it in.  It shoots very well.  Zero failures of any kind which is more than I could say for my $1200 HK clone.  Overall I'm very happy with it.  Now it is on to the SBR paperwork.

I glad the range time went well. I have, im guessing here, 800rds out of my Draco with zero issue. Im very pleased with my first AK buy. When you get your paperwork/stamp get the stock on that thing and post pic's ASAP.

I thought I would go with a AR style three prong flash suppressor.  It has a more futuristic look which goes better with the red dot and rails.  Now it's stamp time!

Nice - What's it take to get a folder attached to the receiver?

check out this thread.  This is what I am going to do.  The ultimax rails were too expensive, so I went with the MI ones instead.

im using the cheap tapco flash hider for $10-12
works perfectly. I was using it all along and rarely would see a few sparks, finally took it off and huge flame shoots out so it really does work. I mean inside ranges I see no light at all with it on. Off fireball. Im just glad I didnt buy the $100 4 piece hider plus the tapco one is like 1/2 inch longer then the barrel so it still keeps the short look

I sent in my form 1.  But that doesn't mean I can't mess with photo shop until then.  I was planing on a magpul ctr stock but now am leaning toward a ace skeleton instead.  This is how it should look.

I really like the ACE on the Draco's.

Of course, I am not a fan of M4 style stocks on anything but AR's.

20rd.  that's a hungarian Tanker mag.  Often favored by those w/underfolding stocks as I believe it can be folded/unfolded w/the mag still in place.  Also good for bench use at the range..

Underfolders can be opened and closed even with 30 rounders in place.

Like so....
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n304/stomp13/AK%20build/IMG_1939.jpg

Next the upper grip/gas tube should pull up and off
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n304/stomp13/AK%20build/IMG_1940.jpg
You now must remove the wood from the gas tube. To do this, I use my adwrench, locked it on my square end of the gas tube and twisted the wood grips around and off.

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n304/stomp13/AK%20build/IMG_1946.jpg
Next remove the lower grip by turning this small lever on the sling mount up and over 180*. I used my needle nose.
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n304/stomp13/AK%20build/IMG_1947.jpg

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n304/stomp13/AK%20build/IMG_1948.jpg
Next push/tap the sling mount forward. This will free up the lower grip
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n304/stomp13/AK%20build/IMG_1949.jpg
Now your Draco should be even uglier

Thanks Stomp for this excellent presentation. I'm adding this pic to show some co-witness options with the Midwest rail. Anyone know if this same rail will fit the Yugo Pap?

Edit to add these are their new Optic Specific Topcovers. They also have a 30mm ring cover. More info here:
