What case is that?

A UTG Homeland covert security caes 25" for $26.95 on Amazon. It is the best for AKs and ARs in my opinion. Stacks well and does not scream arrest me.
BTW: does anyone know where I can find the pistol grip sling plate in stock as pictured above??

My identity crisis Draco.  WASR PG and handguard, Chinese AK sling w/ EG bayo frog hooks on the ends, HK 53 pistol end cap sling swivel on the receiver end. US flash hider. I'm left handed so I used the para cord and run it under the hand guard. Nothing fancy but not an out of the box look either.

who makes that handstop? I like it. It looks alot better than the other ones i've seen.

here is another question. I've read on other posts here that putting a front pistol grip on a draco turns it into a rifle or whatever. But what about magpuls angled fore grip? same thing or not?

what kind of wood stains are those to give that russian reddish-plum colors ? I've only tried the birchwood stain which gives more of a dark brown color. Then how do you get it to be so shiny or laminated ? So far, I know know with birchwood kit, but the wax comes off with cleaning.

No pics so far, but I'm refinishing my ugly factory Draco handguards. Had to do some light sanding because they were rough.  Stained them with a home made alcohol based wood stain/dye. They're a LOT better match for the red bakelite grip.
7 coats of boiled linseed oil and I'm nowhere near finished. Haven't decided if I'll just use linseed, or if I'll use several coats of tung or teak oil after the linseed. These handguards sure are thirsty. They soak up oil nearly as fast as I apply it.
The main reason I started with linseed is because it's easier than just using tung. I don't have to let it dry for a day before applying another coat, and I don't have to use 0000 steel wool between each application. I'll probably end up with 15-20 coats of oil before it's done.
I wish I had a bucket full of tung oil/turpentine so I could just dunk them in and let them absorb all they can. I could pull them out after a day and let the oil dry for a week or so. Then, I could hit them with 000 steel wool before giving them a final oil coat.
Sure would be easier and less mess. Not to mention complete penetration of the wood by the oil.

Even better would be a vacuum chamber filled halfway with oil. I could put the pieces in, one at a time, and pull a vacuum on it. Once it stops bubbling, release the vacuum, and voila, excellent penetration.

Maybe I need to build some vacuum chambers for oil and resin impregnation.

I have a question. I pick up my draco tomorrow and wanna change the furniture. Does kvar handguards drop right in or do they have to be modified in any way? I know the gas tube is shortened but don't know if that affects mounting of the handguard.

The muzzle brake is made by Alpac Engineering. The guy that made them, just made a small run. He and a few friends wanted a short muzzle brake for their Draco's, so he designed and cut them. I don't know if he has any more, but here is the last listing he had on GB:

so what I see is a pistol with a forward grip? or am I wrong
or is there some law saying a forward grip is not one if you use it as the trigger
or could it be called a pistol with a stock, since in theory you press the rear against your shoulder

way to confusing, I like playing it safe and keep mine how it comes
but its cool how you had converted it
Link Posted: 11/9/2011 12:31:39 AM EDT

ATF has said (at least twice) that the Draco with the K-VAR bullpup kit (less the stock piece) remains a pistol, not a rifle, not an AOW. A standard Draco with a forward grip (second pistol grip) would be an AOW.

Regarding the "stock", it never had a stock, does not now have a stock and is not designed to accept a stock. A rifle is "A firearm with a rifled bore, designed to be fired from the shoulder."
There are no laws regulating how you fire a pistol, so you can fire it any way you want...

I purchased the charging handle from Greg Queen at Carolina Shooters Supply.  It was straight but I heated and bent it 90 degrees.  Had my locad fab shot weld it to the carrieer for me and mill the slot in the dust cover.  I like it so much I may put one on my S-12.

sweet! thanks. I've got a torch I can use to heat and bent it and I've got a full welding shop at work.  I'll have to get the welder to hook me up!

I'll just buy another dust cover and do some dremel work on it. What the hey, it's a cheap replaceable part.
