"Happiness is a belt-fed weapon"
That's a very interesting statement, and I've yet to meet anyone with significant trigger time with belt-feds who disagrees. I'd love to try this idea out with a carbine (16"ish) 6.5 Grendel RPD new gun project.
I really enjoy having a project gun by slowly buying up the parts and reading about it, then having a smith make the magic happen.i think that this would be a fun year to start a RPD project.
Looking around the web, I see that DSA offers a 7.62x39 receiver, and that if I scour long enough, I should be able to find a Polish parts kit. (I have a serendipitous appreciation of the a Polish people and nation, some Polish parts on one of rifles would amuse me.)
I also note that there's a Vector manual that gets into the semi-auto specific concerns of the RPD. I' going to look for one of those and any other useful RPD manuals/documentation out there. Seems it would be a fun gun to study.
Am I going around on the right track to get to where I want to go, or is there a better way to do an RPD project and end up with a carbine 6.5?
BTW, The Interview had a great RPD scene. Any others worth checking out?
