BP-02.  I installed a MPK2 rail from Tantal for the mount.

Haven't seen any Norinco RPKs in the threads.  Thought I would post one with some friends.  The Chinese may screw up toothpaste & toys, but they make a fine weapon.  I can post individual pics of the Norinco if interested.  Steve

The RPK in my post above is a Norinco. Edit to add. Feel free to post pics.

Alright, here are a few shots.  Love these Norincos for their clean lines, deep blue and great wood.  They have nice muzzle breaks as well.

The business end, showing legs extended.  I like the adjustable legs.

We captured a fair number of these nice weapons in Tikrit, as the Fedayeen used Norincos.  Here is a pic taken in March 2003 showing a Fedayeen soldier with a Norinco.

Enjoy, Steve

Steve, great looking rifle!  But the photo of the "gentleman" holding the rifle isn't a Norinco RPK but Romanian RPK identifiable by the wingnuts on the legs of the bipod.  What you likely saw in Iraq were Russian or Eastern European RPK's.  In fact, Norinco only produced the long-barreled, AK-resembling rifles for commercial sale.  The commerical Norinco RPK's use a very different bipod than the Russian/Eastern European RPK's as well as a non-bulged, reinforced trunnion.   Norinco does/did make a long-barreled squad rifle called the "Type 81" which is their light machinegun but it doesn't use the AK-style receiver and is quite different than the Russian/Eastern European RPK aesthetically:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Machine_gun_Type81.jpg

Great stuff, at any rate.  I also picked up an RPK-74 from a former member who spent quite a lot of time and work on it.  Haven't fired it yet but hopeful to soon:

Beautiful 74 Ray.  And thanks for the info on the RPK.  You may be right now that I look at the photo.  I was focusing on the adjustable legs at the bottom and didn't notice the wingnuts.  Learn something every day here.  Thanks, Steve

Here is my Yugo. It was one of the imports that was held up in customs for a while. It has never been shot. I will have a 16" RPD joining the family in the very near future.

More Family pics to follow.

Just out of curiosity how are you guys attaching the scope rails to your RPK's? I'm thinking about getting one but my eyes aren't auite what they used to be and I would like to add a scope rail to it. I e-mailed Kalinka and they recommended 2 different rails but said the standard rivet kit would not work and they don't recommend screws.

I'm using the MPK2 rail from Tantal on my M72.  Works great, haven't had a single issue with it.

How did you attach it to the receiver? I e-mailed Kalinka and they said their standard rivet kit would not work needed longer ones and they didn't consider screws safe.

The MPK2 attaches with three screws from the inside of the receiver.  I and many others have used this rail without issue.  I buy plenty from Kalinka, but seek tech info elsewhere.  Pic from Tantal's website, MPK2 on the far left:

can you possible get a picture up of your rifle with that scope?

I've been looking for something to put on my AES10B and would like to get an idea of what that scope would look like on an rpk

Great looking M72.

But remember, Yugoslavia wasn't actually a Soviet Bloc country (perhaps "Eastern Bloc," but that's arguable).  They weren't aligned with the Soviet Union after 1948.

I am going to keep it spartan. I would have liked the aes-10 stock and carry handle but she'll do just fine.
