I really like the RPK version. I saw it on the Krebs .308 rifle. Will it fit on an AK-74/AKM? |

That Krebs .308 AK is WAY accurate.
The RPK has a thicker receiver than an AKM or AK-74. There may be some AK-style rifles that could use it due to thicker receivers, but I am not sure. The difficulty with AK rifles is that there is no way for me to have all of the variations handy to test. Actually, Marc Krebs would be the one to ask - he knows the AK much better than I do.

I was thinking more in lines of length. Is the length the same as a standard AK...from the receiver to the HG latch? I don't see how the receiver thickness would make much of a difference in the rail fitting or am I missing something. Is there anyway you can test it on a standard AKM or AK74 to see if it fits? Thanks |

Why does Mako have the older version on their website for order when the item has been upgraded? You can tell really quick by looking at the Oval holes versus the Round holes on the lower portion of the handguard. I am thinking of getting one of these for an AMD 65 which seems about the perfect application for such a rail and notice Optics Planet seems to have the Version 3 model (the one pictured from the OP) while Mako is selling the Version 2 model.
|
|
|
[#9]
No one in the US should have the version 2 unless they have old stock, which is unlikely as these sell fast and are often backordered with some many dealers. We have only the version 3. Unfortunately, it seems we still have some of the photos of the version 2 floating around. If you look, you will see that some of the photos are of the version 2 and some of version 3 on the website. We have not sold the older models or supplied them to dealers since the new model was announced.

Do you think this rail would fit an AMD 65,
I don't own one of these rail systems, but I do own several AMD65 and you can put any standard AKM hand gaurd on them (well the lower anyway). So I have to say yes this will work on an AMD65 I like the look of this setup, I think I'm going to look into it more. |

Like the design..just wish they were "full length"...ya know...full coverage of gas tube & more
room for hand grip towards front sight... But thats just me...... Still a nice rig... - |

I really like this! Will it fit the Chinese series of Type 56 and 84S versions? They do have the thicker reciever..
Thanks! |

Will this rail work with the SLR-95? Also, any word on the adapter for the milled receiver when using your stocks?

Circle 10 probably can tell you, or Krebs. They use some of these rails on several types of rifles, and will know which the VFR-AK will fit and which need a VFR-RPK.

Where can I find the 3rd. Generation at the best price? How well does it fit the Norinco Mak 90?

I didn't see this asked. Is there any reason why this rail would not work on a WS88 Tantal? (Interarms) |

Works great on the Tantal

What about an AMD65?

I don't have one here to check (AMD65), but as far as I know, it would require modification to the rifle. Can anyone help with specifics?

View Quote The VFR-RPK might be a better choice for milled receivers, but still would likely require fitting. I rembeber that Circle 10 was telling me something about using the VFR-RPK, but I don't remember if it was for a milled receiver or a thinker than normal stamped receiver. Anyway, we don't have a VFR rail system that is designed for milled AKs, (other than Galil) since they are hardly used by any military customers of these AK accessories.
