THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT All shots taken from the bench @ 100yds, rifle was zeroed with tantal. Targets are SR1 nra 100yd First up Russian surplus vs Barnaul blue box, the tape covers the shots taken with the russian surplus ammo
I would say the Barnaul spanked the surplus pretty good here, way tighter group. I did shoot about 5 rounds more of the surplus but I don't think I will bother running that through the tantal anymore. A close up of the Barnaul 10 rounds
and lastly the Tula, almost all in the black except for 3 or 4 rds
Next trip to the range will be Silver Bear and Golden Tiger, providing I can find some... |

Very interesting seeing the variation of accuracy using the different types of ammunition. Thanks for posting the pics.
I've only used Russian surplus in my Tantal with excellent results...especially after I was able to adjust the front sight post and brought the shots up on the target. My primary goal on this initial outing was to check for "keyholing" & was shooting quickly in order to heat-up the barrel.
If you find some Golden Tiger in 5.45, please share your source. I recently purchased about 300 rounds of Silver Bear, but haven't had the opportunity to try it yet. |

I thought I had some tiger and silver bear in my stash but I must have burned it up last year.
I will see if I can hunt some down. How far away were you shooting your target? Looks pretty tight. I am hoping my saiga will have better results shooting the surplus ammo than my tantal did. |

I was only 30 meters out. I was more interested in keyhole issues versus accuracy that day.
Hope you can find a source for Golden Tiger 5.45 as I love the GT in 7.62. As of this writing, I have been unsuccessful in finding a source for the GT 5.45...if you find it, let me know. |

Good luck finding 5.45 period...especially surplus 7n6. I can't believe its drying up as well as going up in price. Thank God I have it stacked deep.
I have been buying a 1 case a month for the last 2 years. I should have enough to last me for awhile. Now I have to get a SGL-31 to add to the stable. |

Aim surplus has silver bear, but they wont ship to the communistwealth of Ma. My local shop is supposed to get in some more Tula, but I would like to try some other brands as well. |

SGammo has 7n6 in stock, or at least they did as of this morning, limited to 10 cans per order. |

"SGammo has 7n6 in stock, or at least they did as of this morning, limited to 10 cans per order."
They also mentioned in a recent Industry post here that 5.45mm GT has been discontinued by the factory due to lack of demand. In 13 years of shooting 5.45mm have only seen 5.45 Golden Tiger advertised a few times, and not at all this year. Somebody might have a small stash somewhere, but what's the point if it's no longer being produced? |

That ammo has always been good to me in 7.62x39 and 223 |
