In the early stages of the Ukraine conflict there were relatively few AKMs, but as the war progresses there seems to be a larger amount of brand new AKMs being issued to the Ukraine Army, and showing up in the hands of pro Russian militants.  In some of the pictures, I think there are what looks like the original production AKM that spawned the Khyber Pass copies. Can anyone verify my speculation?

Here is a picture of Uzbek troops with "Khyber Rifles" to compare against.

I. Just see AK74s in those pics. I assume what you are calling a Khyber clone is a rifle with mix and match AKM and AK74 parts and you are not suggesting knock off Pakistani rifles are being imported.

No I'm not suggesting that rifles were imported into the Ukraine from Pakistan.  To the contrary I was suggesting that these are part of a limited run of AKMs that were possibly manufactured pre 1974 and were possibly some of the first a AKs to use this style of side folding stock.  Some how a limited number ended up in Afgan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan, and were copied by local gunsmiths, by butchering AKS-74s and mating the stocks to AKMs.  Maybe a couple of the original run ended up in the Ukraine.

Here are the two pics that didn't work in the original post

Are those new builds, or are they modifications of Soviet-era weapons that have been in Ukrainian stores for several decades?  I don't doubt that they could be newly built, but I would be surprised if they really were.

I believe Fort does not make new rifles, but rather refurbishes old Soviet era AKMs.  I remember reading Ukrainians complain that the rifles they bought had shot out barrels.  So ... the rifles OP was asking about were originally made as vanilla AKMs and then later fitted with a folding stock.

HA! So they are like the Com-Blok version of Century?

ETA: WOW! Look under "consumer goods" in that Fort website, and see what they try to pass-off as "safes." If that's their idea of a safe, I would hate to see their gunsmithing!
