The Furniture on my NPAP doesnt line up flush on one side and i'm trying to figure out if its just a permanent installation error from the factory or something fixable.
The rifle ran perfect at the rang today and surprisingly accurate to well 200 yards. I know, i know this isnt an AR and this isnt an eye sore to most, but my ocd kicks
in when i see it

never really thought of that, could make it slightly better and give me a reason to re stain the wood.

it would bug me too

It's fine dude. You can always sand it down, but it doesn't make a difference function wise. Personally, I like a fuller grip over a thinner grip.

You could sand the sides carefully to even them up and then stain them.

Make sure upper hand guard is not turned to one side more than the other.

Buy new furniture, pretty cheap IMHO.

I might give it a light sand and give it the "russian red" stain, obviously just to take a tiny amount off the hand guard, which would still make it stick out but not that much.
The transition from having an AR to having an AK is also a psychological change. You're used to every single part fitting just exactly right. However i'm getting used to
it and shoots like a dream!. Took my Npap with just iron sights of course and spikes st-15 with a 4-12x40 scope and they were both ringing a 14x16 in piece of steel at 200 yards.
Packed up the AR and proceeded to use the ak also makes a much louder sound hitting the steel haha.

I'm an AK noob just getting to know a Zastava M92.  When it came out of the box, I noticed the handguard on the gas tube was cocked so there was a bigger gap on the right than on the left.  Got on youtube and learned that you roll that handguard 180 degrees around the gas tube to remove.  I did not have the grip strength to move it on the gun, but when I removed the gas tube and held the receiver end with a wrench, I could move the wood a few degrees in the right direction to even out the gap.

Then, of course, I removed all the wood and stuck a Manticore renegade on it.  The little lever that retains the bottom wood or the renegade is another story, but I really like the renegade.  Sven does nice work!

As others have said, don't sweat the wood fit because you'll likely want to mod it anyway.

Wrap it in Paki-tape and go back to the range.

The upper hand guard is just twisted in its mount.

Lay the rifle across your lap.  Put your hands on each end of the upper hand guard and push down and twist it to line it up.  It might be hard to turn but it is just rotated into the holders to install it so it will turn.

hmm, the upper hand guard doesn't seem to budge. I always thought it was the installation of the lower hand guard from the look of the gap between it and a receiver.
I havent tried to disassemble everything but doubt that will change how it sits.

CAI, mass produced builder, accept the different levels of QC, they will still function properly, even with canted sites and other minor issues, ymmv.

yeah thats understandable, rifle has functioned great so far, shooting side by side with an arsenal.

Mine's like that too only maybe not as much.  Surplus handguards that obviously came from different batches is my guess on mine.

It isn't built by CAI. It's a Zastava factory gun with US parts/magwell opened up here. Century doesn't touch the gas tubes, blocks, or handguards.

If you do sand one side, you'll need to strip the rest and restain/refinish the whole thing. Whatever finish Zastava uses on the NPAP furniture is tough stuff and impermeable to water/stain.

I decided to suck it up and leave it alone. Works like a charm other than the cleaning rod popping out during shooting. Other than that its perfect.

Gently tap the lever upward with a rubber mallet.  Then you'll be able to remove the upper handguard...
