I have a new Zastava M77 .308 coming in on Monday.    Looks like magazines are few and far between.    I have seen many references to being able to modify the M14 magazine to fit a M77.   Anyone have any insights on this?

The conversion instructions say it is a modification to fit the M90.  Is the M 90 mag the same as the M77.

Yes, M90 is the post-ban designation for the pre-ban Mitchell M77s.

Mitchell M77s that were stuck in customs when the ban hit were neutered and re-designated as M90s before being released to the public.

Isn't there some guy on the AR15 site that is in the process of stamping us some of these Vaporware 20 round M77 mags?

I have bought one of every similar mag,--( Vepr .308, Saiga .308, M14/ M1A, Galil )and I am no closer to a 20 rd Mitchell mag as when I spent all that $$$.

BTW the mags from APEX need to be ground down a bout 1/4" on the detach lip. Took a good 5 minutes each with a rasp.

Last I saw (posted on another forum) is that they had the design of the mag body and floor plate done and they were working on the follower.

A bargain compared to what I paid for their Vepr 12 mags.

Mitchell modified commercial M14 mags for the M77/M90 and supplied them when they couldn't get Yugo mags. I have a pair of 30 rounders from Mitchell that don't  feed very well. I believe they were made by Western Magazines. I wrote the conversion tutorial over at AK Forums, using Taiwanese military T58 mags. These were a high quality blued mag made for the Taiwan M14 copy. Pic shows one of my M90s with a T58 mag in it.

By the way I have 10 Checkmate M14 magazines that I had converted for M77 ages ago. Selling $200 shipped for the lot. If anyone's interested.

$45 CSSpec 25 round Galil mag mod'd to fit the M77. Literally 20 seconds of file time.
