THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Sure your rifle might work with some mags but not others. To ensure 100% compatibility and reliability the modification must be made. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I picked up Century converted PAP two weeks ago. This is uncut rear end of the receiver and converted to accept conventional AK mags. It came with 2 Romanian 30 rd magazines. Nice base rifle, not as nice as pre/interim ban imported Yugos, but not far off. One of the mags feeds Ok, occasional failures to strip round and the other one would not work at all. Both mags fit nice, no movement at all. So far only 60 rounds fired but multiple failures to feed (FTF) and failures to strip a round (FTS). This is a direct result of Century using single stack mag bolt. Out of rounds fired, I had about 20 FTF FTS, and some rounds jammed against feed ramp, not a satisfactory result. I did however have good luck with Bulgarian waffle mags, 100% reliable. I was not surprised, as my intentions were to convert the rifle to look like Yugo post-ban M90. This is my plan for the rifle: •Purchased Yugo stock set , top cover and carrier/bolt from R-Guns-done •Dremall single stack feed ramp-done •Headspace new double stack bolt –done •New US made Yugo HG from Two Rivers, stain to match the stock-done •Eventually need to find Yugo OEM HG set •US Yugo pistol grip When done, I will have about $700 in the rifle. This is after selling leftover parts. Again, this is nice base rifle but don’t expect it to work out of the box. I don’t see why people pay big $ for kits w/bad barrels, if this can be had brand new for less money (after you add a receiver, us parts and smith fees).

Agree! This is the reason why I quit buying Century guns a decade ago. This was relatively easy fix and I knew what I was getting into.

This sucks man =/ mine worked very well out of the box =( , however...i totally agree with you about doing the single stack to double stack bolt conversion... i'm looking into this with my PAP rifle aswell....
question...were you able to accomplish this task yourself with a dremel? I ask because I've been debating trying to do it myself aswell...any way I could get you to post up some close up pics of your dremel work to the feed-ramp, I'd like a guide to look at before I decide if this is something I can handle doing? I've made a few modifications to mine with my dremel already. heres a shot of my feedramp work so far...improved performance slightly... ![]() |

You need to completely remove the single mag raised ramp. You will not be able to use regular bolt. It must be grinded even with the rest of the ramp. If you have another AK, have look to see what it should be like. Please check your e-mail, I sent some pics

My question on these rifles is where the heck did they come up with the railed receiver cover? This just spoils it for me as I thought about another Yugo. I got lucky on one of the M70B1's from Century about 5 years ago, straight sights, no cant, functions 100%, nice wood etc.

Thanks for the review. I was thinking about getting one of these but I'm not sure I'm up for the gunsmithing needed.

thanks for posting - this confirms my concerns about the screwed up feed ramp on these guns.
I winder how hard it would be to remove that ramp altogether and weld or screw on a Dinzag ramp? |

Lol@the ow my cheek!!
Yeah.. this was similar to my first exp with the rifle... What i was told... proper cheek weld was nose barely touching reciever and cheek to be infront of the bump on the stock...would fix this. However...i replaced the buttstock alltogether and have enjoyed shooting it ever since... |

I am still considering the cheaper converted PAP with the junky polymer stock set even though they might have problems. Luckily I am in the same town as yugo specialist so I can get it fixed locally if there are problems. Still, I don't know why a lot of manufacturers do the single stack config to get them in country when the Russian's double stack solution works. The installation of a bullet guide is a lot simpler and less error prone than milling out stuff. Maybe there is some government rules that apply to everyone besides the Russians?

A friend of mine bought one of these recently WITHOUT consulting me beforehand. The gun will not feed a single round from ANY magazine. I compared it to my MAK90 and the bullet guide/feed ramp is totally different. It's just a square shelf into which the bullet tip jams every time. I told him he could either Dremel the shit out of it or return it to Century for their one year warranty service. Other than being a non-functioning firearm, it sure looked purty.
Where have all the Romys gone? Longtime passing! |

Thats exactly the same problems I had. I sent it back to Century and should be getting it back in the next two weeks or so. I wont put any money into it though that just doesnt seem right. Buy a brand new gun and then pay to get it working correctly? No. Hopefully it comes back working but most likely it wont unless they replace the bolt and I am not even sure they will do that. I guess I could send it back over and over and over again until they get it right since its winter but thats just ridiculous and I dont have any skills whatsoever to fix it myself

I posted a comment on your thread. This sucks but PAPs are nice rifles if you are willing to spend extra money to get it working right. Mine has been 100% since the mods. And it is almost as nice as Yugos from the 90's. I was trying to make point, that people are paying big bucks for used-up kits. PAP can be turned into nice rifle with a little TLC. Also, I was trying to expose it for what it is. I know that some people don't have technical skills nor the tools to do the work. If that is the case, these individuals should look at Arsenal guns. If money is the constrain, perhaps WASR might be an answer.
I have several Arsenal guns, they are sweet and most all work right out of the box. I was burned by Century long time ago with their in house manufactured HK and FAL clones. When it comes to Century Arms, this my philosophy, never buy a gun build by them!!! Now guns that they import and stamp their name on them are OK. Guns that they import and have to modify might need some work and are not always good to go out of the box. |

I dont know if you saw my other thread but I ended up getting my rifle back from Century and it works so good! I am very very happy with it and I am glad I gave them a chance to fix it. They ended up just filing down the ramp similar to your picks and it must have done the trick. I have only taken it shooing once but I ended up putting 120 or so rounds through it without a single problem. I am hoping nothing goes wrong but if it was able to spit that many out I think it's good to go.
I appreciate your feedback and everything BTW. I hope yours is running good. |

I'm going down the same path as the OP. I bought my pap knowing what issues I could face. Mine fed 50% out of the box. Cleaned up the ramp a little and it fed 80%. Took the single feed lip down to flush and it is feeding 100%. The bolt is the smaller face single stack and it just barely catches the round on the left so I'm going to get a Yugo bolt and headspace it. I've also ordered a numbered Two Rivers stock set because I'm going for a tabuk clone.
Already ordered a smooth Yugo top cover and a rear sling mount ( have to cut a slot for that). |

Question for you guys that have ground down the feed ramp. What are you using to do this and how long is it taking you? Can I get a dremel with a 90 degree fitting in there?

I used my straight die grinder with a long shank. It's what I use to port/polish cylinder heads. It holds a small cylinder shaped abrasive roll that luckily was the exact size I needed to take down the lip and blend it in. Took maybe 5 minutes with me stopping a bunch to make sure I didn't go too far. I can see where a dremel would work too, just might take a little longer.

This looks very nice. I would also try to get original Yugo pistol grip. I think that would complete your rifle.
Very Nice! |
