I've long wanted an sks that takes AK mags and I found one locally but not sure if the price is right. It's in one of those godawful factory thumbhole stocks.

What's your buy price?

It's worth what ever the market will bare.

I'm not interested in that rifle but would be tempted to buy it for $200-250.

I would think $400 - $450 seems about right.

I have a question, why do you want an SKS that accepts AK mags?

For no practical reason. The novelty I suppose. I like the SKS better than the AK but I don't like fiddling around with the stripper clips, this seems to be a nice mix between those two guns plus I can use all those surplus AK mags I have. And for some reason a while back I wanted to try to get one of each flavor of SKS.

FWIW, the asking price is $570

$570?!? I'd rather buy an AK or a VZ-58, or just get another SKS.

That's not a bad price.

For various reasons, those SKS Sporters are selling for $500+.
Check out the price on this one.

This has been my experience as well.

I bought a nice SKS so-called paratrooper with the 16" barrel for $450 on Gunbroker. I say "so-called paratrooper" because I read there was never any such thing in the real world of SKSs. I seems that a few importers realized there was a good market for the shorter versions of the SKS and started having them cut-down to size at the factory.

I think the SKS models that are manufactured to take the AK mags are pretty popular, but don't think they are worth $600 or $700, but that is just my opinion. I'd buy a nice AK47 before I'd pay that much for an SKS, sporter or not. But I do like my 16" barrel SKS!

A) too expensive IMO
B) no BHO
C) I'm told steel 30rd AK mags totally throw off the balance of an SMS
D) Tapco 20rd SKS mags are cheap, reliable, and lightweight

So even tho I have a bunch of AK mags, I also have 5 tapco duckbills.  No reason to spring for the extra cost of a D or M.

Still want one, but wouldn't pay $450 for one at this point.

Picked one up today. Grew up shooting a regular norinco my dad bought in '90. I'll take the accuracy and milled receiver over an AK any day. I do want to get a regular stock for this one. I'm no butt hole surfer.

I've had one since 1993. I got the rifle and seven Chinese magazines for like $139.00. It has never failed me and is a great shooter. It's been sitting in Tapco stock since I broke the original thumb hole stock a long time ago.
