Depending on how much/what type of mount you put on it, I put a Rick Lowe Leather riser on mine. It is beautifully made, but definitely not cheap-- I think I paid around $100 for it. However, considering I spent near that on the mount itself (I got the brass stacker scout mount), I justified it to myself, and the rifle looks beautiful now.
In my experience a lot of the more affordable stuff for the SKS, Mosin, and other popular surplus rifles tends to be really cheap Chinese-made garbage that doesn't work at all. The receiver covers with a rail on top are what come to mind, especially for the SKS.
My point is, if I were you I would just opt for the more expensive option and be happy rather than something cheap that might leave you disappointed. Although someone else might have a more affordable option in mind that actually works.
