Recently purchased a type 56 and it had about 1 lb of cosmoline inside and out. When I run a cleaning rod through the barrel a big worm of cosmoline came out! I had to mummify the stock and leave it inside the car on a couple of hot days to sweat the wood. Also boiled most of the small parts. Low serial # K68xx, all matching; looks like these were made with Russian supervision and maybe parts. The rifling is strong and bore is shiny, looks like they used them for training in Albania a lot but fired them very little. Looking forward to shooting this one, lots of history. Anyone have some facts about these or own one ?

Probably a Sino-Soviet. Great buy, and stock looks good as-is - maybe give it a little BLO if it's very dry..

Took the sks to the range and it performed flawlessly and accurately. Point of impact was high but centered, easily adjusted. Very happy with this rifle as it is more fun to shoot than many much more expensive guns. Recoil is very mild.
