THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I have,i believe ,a norinco sks which has a tapco collapsable stock on it. Im pretty bored with it now that i have my ar

so i was thinking about going with a sniper look to it. I was thinking about replacing the stock with a dragunov style stock. some ive seen in pics look cheap and some look good. who makes the good ones?

also it has a pictanny scope mount on the rear and has some tiny pos scope that i threw away when i got it, are these mounts any good?

id like a good mount and nice scope for it so i can have some fun with it, suggestions?

post some pics if you have a sks"'sniper"

thanks!

Just leave it as is. Save the money and get something else. I've seen too many people try to trick out their SKS only to realize it is still just a SKS with a bit more plastic around it. YMMV

Choate makes the best stocks. You can actually take the gun down for cleaning without removing the stock to do it.

The mount you have is fine, if it is tight. Put some glass on it and see how it groups.

I just picked up a Yugo 59, cut it down to 12.9", cut the hood off the front sight and tigged it to the gas block. threaded it 14x1 LH and welded a krink cone booster on it. I picked up a Posp 6x42(SVD) and I'm making a side rail for it now. When I get it finished I'll stick some pics here..

you realize you just ruined any resale value it ever had, right?

and if you didn't get it stamped, you've now broken the law, so, double good job.

So now his $200 SKS is a $150 SKS, and it is setup the way he likes it. I want to see pics.

any yugo goes for more than 200 dollars now, the least you can expect to pay a dealer is 300.

he also said a 59, not a 59/66, so more like 500 dollars.

except now more like 100.

I'm going to laugh my ass off when he rifle doesn't fucking work because he bubbad it.

it's pinned and welded at 16.5".... so, no, I don't need your NFA advice. And it fires and cycles just fine, It's not my first gun build..adjustments were made to the gas system to keep it cycling normally. Also the krink booster is just that... a booster. Helps retain gas in the system as the bullet is leaving the muzzle.

as for resale.. I dont' sell guns, I get what I'm looking for or build what I can't find. I collect them.

It's far from bubba... there are no plastic parts on it, or lasers.. I'll post some pics when it's done.

if you don't know what you are doing and use the wrong tools... yes. machinist/welder/fabricator/gunsmith... this is my job. I wouldn't worry about it, since I like it, and you won't be shooting it.

sorry to get OT.. heres one of my older builds. 59/66 with a Pos1(mount was too high, but later relocated)

for what its worth, the above rifle I purchased with a good bore and sticky cosmo' action, rough stock. I cleaned and refinished it, duracoated the steel parts and I managed pie plate sized groups at 100m.... I'm not a great shooter, so that seemed better than Irons for me

I think they are def worth scoping with the right optics.

Here it is partially finished. The tapco stock is on there till I finish the wood...

it cycles just fine after some gas port work. and it shoots some serious flame.

I like it, can't wait to see the pictures of it with the wood stock.

It just cracks me up when people get all butt hurt about another person modding their own SKS. for 1 it is an SKS, secondly its a yugo sks, and thirdly,
it still is just an SKS.

Keep up the good work and lets see the finished picture.

thanks.. wood pics tonight i think.

I wasn't about to debate barrel length vs velocity vs accuracy..... I paid less than $200 for it and it shoots tighter groups now than it did before I cut it. I live in the woods. So if it's accurate to 150yds.... then I'm happy.
